All fine and dandy.. couldn't care less about a guy who is not at his computer.

However, what is CCP's vision on someone who puts one or more alts at all high-level anomalies in a system, cloaked, AFK, to make sure that said anomaly will not respawn? NOW the AFK dude is affecting something while not being there. Military will drop no matter how many people are willing to kill rats.

i have posted the solution to this probally 20 times now. the way to slow or stop afk cloaking is to make a skill. the cloaking device has to give of some form of resonance. this should be able to be picked up via scanner or new probes. the scan res would increse with each level and at level 5 alow you to warp withing 25k of the target. finding it from there should be easier. this would change how afk'ers play thier game. and it also gives some of us something else to train. anyways thats not the whole deal but i think it gives you a general idea....

I still like the idea of a decloaker bomb, kinda like void/target breaker bombs. Except it just turns off the cloak of those within its area of effect. No real problem if the guy is right there he can just recloak or move before he's killed. Make Decloaker fields too like warp bubbles, just can't activate a cloak in them.

I"m not against local, after all its kinda like a airline transponder, gate reports each person that uses it. No gates in wormhole to report so there is no local. It is not possible to remain eternally vigilant in military mode, if you remove local you pretty much kill the success of the game in 0.0 and guarantee folks will continue to clump in empire.

Cloaking is a different story since it allows the attacker total control and denies the defender any control of the situation. As such modules and weapons should be designed to counteract the cloak as it would be done for a real world weapon.

I'm not talking about nerfing cloaking or nerfing local.. Local or no local people can still cloak in present anomalies to prevent them from spawning.

I don't like the idea of a decloaking bomb. Turns gate running ships useless.

How does being in a fleet solve the problem of some guy using cloaked alts to prevent anoms from despawning?

I would say best countered with a POS mod. Requires sov to anchor and online. When activated sends a pulse through system which disrupts ALL cloaks. After a 2 minute cooldown all cloaker has to do is recloak. If someone is actually in a system all it means is they have to be at computer, and hit cloak again.

Means you can still be a long term sneaky cloaker. Just not AFK. I am not against people using sneaky cloaks at all. I am only against peeps playing the game without actually playing.

Remove local from 0.0 (the free warning system so many use as a crutch) and improve scanner.

You must know by now that people will see what they want as opposed to what you wrote.

As for your OP, it's a good question.

How would you not nerf cloaking but still have an AFKer findable in an anom?

For RP answer, maybe make anoms have a tachyon pulse or something at predetermined (or random) intervals that disrupts cloaking. Not disables. So if someone is determined to deny assets they can be at the keyboard and recloak immediately. If they are afk you find 'em and kill 'em. I think this could be programed fairly easily.

Else a probe of some type that only works in anoms to accomplish the same thing. This option, imo, would be wasting programming resources for what is a minor problem, though.

Easy solution would be to have a forced despawn for anoms 10-15 minutes after the last rat dies regardless if someone is in the anom or not. I'm all for afk cloaking and all (I do it a ton tbh), but denying an anom respawn just by sitting in one cloaked seems...idk not working as intended?

I like mr epeen's idea.. I don't want it to be impossible to lock-down anomalies since i also do that... And the temptation to just leave it there overnight and all day long while i'm working (so i'm not even in my house..) is too great. People would call me stupid if i said i logged the alt off just because i was going AFK.....

It's not the AFK players you should worry about, It's players like me who log in and sit cloaked in system all day while playing games or doing stuff on your other monitor. The AFK players are harmless.

I'm just waiting until you get stupid and come out make isk.

Plus asset denial through either fear or holding a Anom from re-spawning are valid tactics when fighting.

If you can keep your enemies pour and scared to actually play your winning already.

Wouldnt it be better to read the post and then think about your answer?

What? another one of these threads. Look, there is so much space to do things elsewhere, do you think there is a few hundred or thousand alts sitting in anoms cloaked waiting for someone?

if you think you got full rights to the space, then you can also ask yourself : how did I let this guy in? Generally speaking you either avoid racketeered systems or defend yourself, evac or call friends as this game is full of pleasant surprises. =)
