It freezes when you click an item, and salvaging a wreck with the wreck open does the same thing for every item in there; same as loot all.

seems strange how clicking on individual items drops the fps, i wouldnt be suprised if its the 'est.price feature' thats to blame

Yeah, although it doesn't do it in hangars; just items in wrecks in space.

I just found and fixed the issue, which was being caused by repeated unnecessary disk writes. It is quite possible that this issue may have been reduced with today's patch, but it should get much better once we deploy this fix. I can't promise the date at this point, but it's going to be early August at the very latest (we're being forced to take summer vacations would you believe!).

Until then, if the issue is plaguing you, it may help to defrag your HDD and leave disk read/write heavy operations such as video playback alone while looting. Alternatively, this could also be the best excuse you'll ever get to buy an SSD!

Thanks for all the videos/logs/feedback., it made my investigation quite easy Smile

Is it really a good idea to dump an expansion on your player base and then go off on summer holiday? Especially given the history that you minimally test your code on SISI before pushing it onto TQ and then expect your player-base to find and test all those bugs you missed?
It is telling that these defect repairs are unable to be migrated up to the live server due to personal vacations. If CCP's development process is so wed to individuals and their unique knowledge of particular code aspects, then yikes.

Another big layoff or a few key people decide that the grass looks greener elsewhere and then what happens?

Consider a more robust cross-training and knowledge sharing culture to mitigate the impact of vacations so that you do not have to roll out that excuse every summer (and winter).

Fyi, customers do not really care about how many people are on vacation at a service provider, rather they are interested in the level and quality of service. This is a management issue all companies face and it is time that CCP addressed it. A company that is, what, 400+ strong should be able to swap people in and out of projects to one extent or another.

As an aside, this is tremendously beneficial to your employees as they have greater flexibility on when they can take vacations or spend time with their families.

I have the same Issue.

How long will a ssd run when EVE writes thousand and thousands duplicate files in...chache and chache backups?

Other Question:
Is it neccesary that eve keeps its settings.ini and related files open? People often lose their settings when their
computer crashes because this files can get corrupted.

Pretty common really in most medium to large software companies. Esp if they have a reasonably large codebase that has grown over 6+ years.

If it were a critial issue no doubt someone would pick it up, however the time it'd take them to get up to speed on that area of code and fix it often isn't worth it when essentially it can wait.

! I'm not getting an ssd just to cope with some ridiculous new inventory system which shouldn't have ever even been implemented, remove it and demote the person who made it. thats the fix, not all your player base buying new hardware how dare you.

yes i'm mad bro.

Trying today and looting performance seems much improved. Are others seeing similar?

If so, thanks CCP for getting this fix in, holidays or no.

same here, went to play silent hunter 4 (REAL sub sim for a change heh)

just tested the patch and its alot better now but there are still a 1-2 sec screen freeze when pressing 'loot all' (used to be 3-4 sec) for me. and opening wreck still has a noticeable lag but at least screen wont freeze anymore.

edit: i am sorry for swearing on my previous post. you guys did implemented some repair. but its still lagging and freezing.
