Catching and Killing T3s in Null

My question is essentially, how difficult is it to catch a T3 traveling through Null, and how effective is it to use a T3 to travel to a quiet space in deep null and switching subsystems for missioning/plexing etc.

If the T3 is fit with CovOps cloak, and an interdiction nullifier, they jump through the gate, assess the situation, wait til everything is away from their cloaked location (or as much as possible), drop jump cloak, apply covops cloak, and warp.

How often do you/can you catch T3s while doing this (the only way I can think of is an interceptor charging at them as soon as they're visible on grid. How would you catch one and would you recommend this for Null Travel.

Just travel in a shuttle. No one attacks a shuttle it's like punching a kid with glasses.

shuttle...

yeah, first bubble camp you find you're screwed. Cloaky nullified T3s are almost unstoppable for nulsec movement and scouting. Carry your extra subs in your hold or anchorable can. You'll have to use an NPC station to refit unless you've got standings with a player station corp/alliance. Plan accordingly.

Edit: For added insurance, fit warp stabs just in case you find the one remote sebo'd interceptor with drones assigned in all of Eve. T3s aren't exactly the fastest aligners out there. You can get decloaked. 3 Warp stabs should cover it.

Yeah was planning on carrying combat gear with me and being in NPC null, I figure once I'm in a dead system in deep null with 0 in local I'll be ok to go gank and run sites/missions.

Even nullified T3s can die if they run into big enough gatecamp though (there is somebody close enough to break their covops cloak, or they cant activate it after gatecloak drops), or if they experience the gatecloak glitch.

Shuttle in null is not safe. It mostly is in lowsec though.

It's certainly one of the safer methods of travel through 0.0. I've run through some pretty sizable gate camps in my cloaky Tengu, and have never had a problem.

You should be able to set up a pretty decent omni tank (as in, don't just fit it for the rats you're going to kill) while traveling too, which will give you a pretty decent chance of making it back to the gate in the case that you can't get away (obviously, don't aggress).

But as always, don't fly anything you can't afford to lose.

Yeah. Cost isn't too much of an issue. But having a loss like that still isn't fun or good for kill ratios.

For travel I was thinking of putting on some nano's and warp core stabs (as mentioned above) and going afterburner to make it back to the gate if it comes to that, assuming that if its fast enough to decloak they'll have a scram. Possibly bship ab? But it would destroy the align time.

What do you guys suggest in terms of prop mods? Dual? And use rigs to buff the shield tank?

I've jumped into huge frigate gangs in my plated proteus and got away. Never lost a t3 so far to screwing up with the cloak but that is the more likely way to get killed (either bug or user error). Jumped into an incursion few days ago and circle didn't go green on cloak so I tapped again. Cloak turned off and instalocked by those damned incursion rat gate camp lmao. I managed to get back to the gate in 5% armor.

a t3 is only going to be caught if the pilot makes a mistake or runs out of luck while doing a plex/ratting.

So then another question, T3s in wormholes, is the Nullifier worth it? And how hard is it to catch a t3 in wormholes, impossible if you keep an eye out for scanner probes (if you're in sigs not anamolies).

You can get killed even in a nullified-T3, that is IF there's a reactive inty pilot at the gate camp.

When you go from GateCloak to CoOpsCloak there's a very brief time where you DO appear on the overview, a reactive Inty pilot can spam "Approach" and zip right at you, decloaking you in 1-2 seconds, then you're in a pretty bad situation.

Fitting WarpCoreStabs might help, but if you do you basically hurt your align time, as opposed to using Nano's. A Tengu fitted with nano's and nozzle joints / polycarbon rigs can align in about 3.5 seconds, which even with the Inty tactic should get you clear.

i personally fit a tengu with 2 core stabs and one nano. I have yet to have an issue. I even went through a 30 man gate that was camped without any issues.

going null is a big risk even with cloaking device and nullifier sub.. a good gate camp can beat that ..

however,... haven't u heard about NRDS area where neut players can come to our region (providence mainly) and do PVE without being shot at (unless a red pirate comes along... and we couldnt stop only time)

Providence is mostly under NRDS (not red dont shoot) authority.. its a place where we try to keep it open to neutral players to come and experience 0.0 PVE

Is NRDS just for YF or are all the prov alliances NRDS too, like CVA/Severence/EE etc

Providence 2 years ago was firts experience in 0.0, but you will be systems full of nuetrals
I do not recommend you taking the t3 you will lose it, take a hac if you do try provi. If you still want to go to npc space i recommend curse.

I live in a wormhole with one of my ships being an interdiction nullified T3. I keep it on my scanning Loki because it's pretty easy to run into bubble camps on WHs and while scanning, I'm almost always alone. However, if you're trying to use the T3 for running sites or PvP, I'd pass on the nullifier while in a fleet for a different propulsion subsystem. You drop a low slot to fit that subsystem, which can be more valuable to have either added tank or a damage mod.

If your going to head down(with refit equip down there), full nano's in the low's(although as mentioned above you can put a +2 stab in the low too if you want) plus the interdiction/cov ops setup and your *very very* hard to catch.

As for catching them, hope they dont have the above fit, sensor boosted ceptor with multiple 2 point scrams(or one 2 point and one range, hopefully be in full range), and pray you get lucky. It will be luck too. (but ive seen it done :D really great when it comes off)
