What kind of corp would ask for this as a condition of you joining?

I recently applied to a corporation and they asked me for this stating that I was a former member of an opposing coalition 2 years ago for 3 months. Does this make sense to anyone except as a way to rip someone off?

Sekurity Deposits are sometimes required to establish that you are legitimate and have good intentions.

Confirming the above poster. I use security deposits for my corp for similar reasons. It is standard practice for most high quality corps.

Doesn't sound legit to me. Especially without using a third party escrow until certain conditions are met. They have already looked at my wallet per required api submission and use that to determine how much they can ask of me. That is bullshit, if they require a security deposit it should damn well be stated in their recruitment information, and be a set amount.

So you feel if a noob wants to join said corp, he HAS to have the exact amount of isk or he should not bother applying? What kind of nonsense is that?

Sec deposits is a clever way to keep the casual awoxer & Spy out.

This could be fun.

Yes. A 1.5 b security deposit at least demonstrates one is not a total peasant and will not likely resort to mooching once their space vessels blow.

You can find the results of those who have fallen for this obvious scam in the dozens of threads they've made detailing their stupidity. When it comes to the business of separating a fool from his ISK, business always has been and always will be BOOMING!

You want in the corp, then you pay the fee. It goes towards time spent training you, helps with ship reimbursement funds, and also recoups losses incurred if you are a spy. Do you have any idea how much ISK can be destroyed because of a single spy? Far more than 1.3bil, I'll tell you that.

And seriously, if 1.3bil seems like a lot to you, I think you have more problems than what you are discussing in this thread. I can sneeze and 1.3bil falls out into my kleenex.

Haha! Tried that when I was a noob. They didn't do jack squat except steal my retriever/hurricane and 250 mil. Goons are a scamming corp far as I'm concerned.

Exactly. They scam idiots and part them from their ISK. You were dumb enough to pay a deposit when there likely existed hundreds of threads already full of the tears of fools like you. That you did no research and fell for what is quite obviously a scam speaks more to your gullibility than anything else, really.

You can join me with a security deposit of only 500 Mil. Much better deal then who ever you're trying to get with.

You're welcome in UNIBA, We don't have security deposits. Although you have to pay for your own ships and equipment unless you were killed by a corp member.(Happens a lot)
