10 trillion isk to ally?

I've offered assistance to a few corporations who have been war decced. However, when they try to accept, it says that they need 10 TRILLION isk to accept. I was under the impression that the first ally was free. Has anyone else encountered this bug?

Its as bugged as all hell. Loads of people are getting that issue and for the exact same 10 trillion amount too.

Not too surprising to learn the system has bugs in addition to being a horrible system. Hopefully CCP rethinks this and comes up with a better way to do Wars.

On evenew24, one goon was bragging at having 1 trillion isk, but he propably doenst have a soul, so I doubt that ally thing will work too well.

Someone tried declaring war on us a while back. They even camped outside Jita expecting kills.

I dropped corp before undocking, then joined again when I was back in low sec.

That has nothing to do with the actual mechanics of wars, that has to do with trade hub camping idiots picking low and nullsec corps as the subjects of their war declarations. Also now you can't rejoin a corp after leaving it while you're at war.

True, but war dec evasion does render "war" in Eve somewhat futile, even when its against other high sec entitites.

You cannot target miners, because of NPC corp mining. You cannot target people hauling goods, because of NPC corp hauling. You cannot target mission runners, because they will drop corp and hop to a new one.

Etc.

War decs are literally only good for picking off the odd few idiots, and griefing newbie corps. The ally system is just making a bad system worse.

There is a certain type of Alliance that is actually good to declare war on and usually results in "fun" wars. It's the generic, non-focused, all-purpose highsec alliance with a member count between 80 and 300. Because they aren't focused on one particular thing they will be bored shitless and be looking for something to do and because they are an alliance the "leadership" will feel obligated to try and get people to shoot at you, which is what you want.

It's much more nuanced than that in reality and I could go into pretty excessive detail about what makes a corp or alliance good to declare war on, but those entities do exist.

The real problem with the whole system is that as it stands there's absolutely no reason why anyone in highsec other than a dedicated highsec wardec corp would ever want to declare a war and fight over something because you are just paying money to flag yourself to get utterly raped by half a dozen griefing corps who will join your war as defenders.

Which sucks **** because people in highsec need to be shooting each other more often.

wow I guess CONCORD learned how to sales tax things from New Jersey.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.
