For a small consideration I would be willing to give a private class on beginning wh for beginners at wh's based on over 3 years of wh living - but here I'll be happy to make a short list of a few basic things that should be known.

1. to just explore - covop rigged for scanning, sister expanded and load out with sister probes. - take extra for when you lose track of time and combats for giggles to maybe practice scanning others down quickly. also there are implants to help scanning.. scanning sucks mmkay so if it's all your doing then you'll want to be able to resolve quick and move on or you may shoot yourself irl. Systems commonly have 25 or more sigs to scan and tend to be larger than k-space systems.
2. don't forget to make a bookmark..
3. see them before they see you - remember w-space pvp is submarine warfare and intel is Elvis. in solo covop If you are uncloaked outside of a FF and see the enemy for the first time on the overview 90% chance you are already podded.
4. don't uncloak unless you want a fight.
5. when in doubt, it's a trap.
6. it's called dscan and it can be narrowed or widened, look into it.
7. the only good reason to die in a covop is to get caught in a trap and there are no good reasons to die in a trap if you are serious about collecting intel. everyone and his sister can launch a bubble out here but few can lock and point a covop before it can cloak and warp off.
8.Don't Panic.

A good thing to remember, besides speaking up in local and using your orca religiously, is to never, EVER get scared off by some random guy in a cloaky flying through on dscan. In an anomoly you are pretty much safe unless you see combat probes. No probes = safe combat probes = gtfo. Remember to also warp to a planet first as your exit may have been bubbled. Stay at that planet for a few until you can confirm that your way out is not blocked.

If you are new to WH's, really suggest you go send some time on the test server. Learn the ropes of how WH's work, what ships you need and how to fit them before you add in other players are shooting at you. A week or 2 on test will teach you alot more than reading a guide. Once you are comfortable scanning them , running the sites and getting loot back out, then jump back and see what happens.

Also, spend some time playing with different fitting and different ships. Try to find the right balance between expensive ships that runs sites fast and cheap ships that take forever. Like someone said before, count on it gone as soon as you undock, because it will happen.

Loved this....

Also, I had forgotten about the test server so I'll down load that today too.
