They aren't bad at all. The EVE Online forums are the most enjoyable of any game I've played.

I think you're lowballing it with that 99% figure. Are you sure you're from SA?

I'm just replicating one of the many bullshit figures available on these awful forums. Don't believe me, mail me your SA game and I'll "hit you up" with a PM

The positively worst forum out there are the battlelog forums for BF3. They have everything you just mentioned, but on a scale yet matched by the internet stupidity bank.

Lets keep our posting constructive - the minority, us good-posters, must work together to do the jobs the ISD aren't doing. Instead of closing threads, steer them on the right track. Instead of redirecting people with the same spam message linking to the rules sheet, explain each rule - and why they should follow it. ISDs are primarily recruited for being active and friendly people - let them utilize that friendlyness on the forums.

I don't use Facebook, it is all too "pornographic" for my tasting. It is an invasion of my privacy, something we have little of in this information age.

I don't make threads on SA for that very reason...

Perhaps, instead of creating a rant thread, you could have taken your ideas to the very obvious and clearly marked sticky thread on the front page of General discussion which was started for the express purpose of discussing the future of the ISD and these forums.

Just a thought.

This helps your position of credibility with regards to criticizing the forum. This attempt at conversation has been a successful endeavor for you then! Congratulations!

Someone once asked if a skill had any unspecified additional qualities to it, something not explicitly stated in the in-game description, without providing a hint as to what that quality might be or why anyone would believe such an enigmatic quality actually existed beyond him hearing it from someone else. I made a sarcastic response about the skill causing players to be susceptible to unsubstantiated rumors and myths, or something of the sort. The post was deleted within a day. Why I remember that isn't because I've never had a post deleted (I've had more dozens than I could possibly remember across multiple game forums), but around that time I had stopped reading entire sections of the forum since they were populated with certain posters who leave inciteful (not insightful), counterproductive, and idiotic crap with every post... and aren't touched.

I honestly don't understand what it takes to get a post deleted. I am inclined to agree with your stance. However, your arguments and demeanor are repelling me from your perspective, not convincing me to agree with you. It's like when I hear someone on the radio with a similar voting record as my own saying something so completely idiotic, I feel this horrible taint glowering over me convicting me of associating with twits.

tl:dr please stop. You're making my inner child cry with your bad posting.

So you paid money to join a community that you want nothing to do with?
This sounds like another "I paid money to join SA & they didn't let me join GS" thread.

You mean, you would be abiding by the rules you yourself are complaining that other people aren't adhering too? Maybe you mean the long standing (by long standing I mean since the EVE forums first went live) rule about creating new threads regarding the same subject, when such a thread already exists and was started by CCP themselves?

Or possibly the one about not discussing forum moderation? Or the one about not making troll threads whose only purpose is to stir up unneeded, unwarranted and unwanted trouble? Or perhaps the one that says you shouldn't post baseless rumours regarding CCP and the ISD and tout them as fact?

You have breached every single one of the rules I have just stated, and all but 1 of those rules have been standing since the day the forums went live. Perhaps you could clarify the intent and purpose of this thread for me, since as far as I can tell it serves no productive purpose and contains no actual, usable suggestions from you on how any improvements could be made.

I appreciate that you have an opinion on this subject, and I would defend your right to voice that opinion, but your cause and case are not helped by your refusal to use pre-existing and well formatted procedures in order to voice that opinion.

Take note of everyone else wishing to contribute to this subject. Even those who openly admitted to trolling the living daylights out of this forum and who pretty much kick started this entire discussion, though maybe not in the most productive or well reasoned of ways, are making the effort to post in the right places.

So why can't you?

I've been posting in many forums over the years: the Something Awful forums, the battle.net forums, MMORPG.com and all the other comment boards of IGN and massively.com - but Eve Online has one of the most disgusting forums on the internet. Let me tell you why:

- Arguments repeat themselves, over, and over again: buff Hulks, nerf hulks, buff titans, nerf titans, ban Mittani, free Mittani....
- The ISD team are extremely hostile, and threads are being locked like crazy - for only minor offences
- 99% of the time, forum bans apply to only a single character (I would know). For a game which encourages multi-box play, this is absolutely ludicrous.
- People like me, make threads complaining about other ****** threads - and end up getting even more threads locked.

This is how you fix the above issues:

- Loosen the ISDs' involvement in forum moderation
- Ban IPs, accounts - both in game and out of game
- Have a clear set of rules which are displayed in either a pop-up or bold menu link - not on a hidden wiki page

Note: If you lock this thread, these forums will burn and shrivel. Listen to my ideas, and then maybe you devs will have a better understanding of your own players' ideas - streamlining the feedback, input and development process.

Because ccp endorses that kind of behavior. They know that they can get much more money from crazy ppl ahm i mean involved fans than from casuals. I guess some might see trolling here in this context as a kind of freedom and not just beeing completle retar ded. Trying to control anything here would lvl up the forum to a space, where decent discussions could be led and ccp would have to answer to their customers.

Nobody who is right in his mind is going to criticize ccp for not answering the fans demands after they have seen how those fans behave.
