Ok after a few fights I found out my main beef with it.

It removes the natural eye state of the middle of the screen to look at the bottom where you can no longer see the ships.

before with the info on the sides you still saw the action since your eyes where at the same vertical level... does my poor english make sense?

your english is good :)

i can quote you in that case, pulling your eyes down to the HP Bars and you will lose focus on what happens ingame.

Because you can get all the action by watching that thrasher orbiting something while fully zoomed in. Yeah...
I like the new interface but id lacks the distance of each ship form the center beacon, something the old one had iirc.
The mirroring looks weird at first, but you get used to it.

why most of you guys complain how the interface is too big (and, yes I agree) I also want to point out that it is also too small.
I mean, I watch it from my sofa and I can't see anything (even though I have a 40" tv).
I mean there is a bunch of information cramped onto a white background but unless you sit 30cms from your monitor you can't really understand anything.

The old interface had pictures of the ships, so yeah, you could tell "look that rifter looking thing is in structure" ... now it's just "third row contains a lot of red"

so yes, it's worse then last year's interface

From the sound of it, most of you can see a basically-functional stream to comment on.

I'm in New Zealand. The ATX coverage comes to me as a slideshow with stuttering Wurlitzer sound. That's--briefly--making me nostalgic about the first EVE battles I watched, but it's not an effective viewing experience.

Heading back to bed and planning to watch these on a delayed format.

However...

Yay for streaming the qualifying rounds at all.

Yay for the chance to fix infographics and presentation issues before the later rounds.

(Just, please, for those of us with horrible international pings: something functional would be lovely. :) )

It's pretty safe to say that this sort of internet stream is designed to be watched on a computer monitor that you are sitting close to. This is how the majority will view it and it makes sense to design an interface that provides additional interface to these viewers.

It will be a more relevant use of space once the teams are full size

I'm not sure if i want to see more stuff, guess like most of us we want to see the space, the fight and the bare info we need, the EW indicator is an awesome thing, but the old interface was compact, ingame related and less excel warrior like.

If you watch football, would you like to see 30% of the screen covered?

No, but in football you can easily decipher what's going on. Adding the EW for example I find super helpful in terms of finding out who is doing what.

So take the old style interface, and add the e-war indicators by them...? Le derp.

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.

noticed that aswell, with the old system you could instantly tell what happens to what ship and now you have to browse the bar for names and stuff, it lacks the overview although it should generate it.

ok, i think it's better than ever, but i miss being able to visually identify the ships.

The little icons for ship were really helpful. Maybe you should stick those ship icons NOAH made last year next to each ship name? YOu know, the cool ones that were for frigate, cruiser, battleship. Not everyone knows which ship is which above. becuase you could see a picture of each ship on each side, it was useful.

Combine this new UI with something to make it easy to see which ships are which. We don't all memorize every ship name. I know which is which, but non-eve players can't remember every single ship. Make it easier to tell whats going on.

love the EW stuff and the 2ns camera on 24/7

I think that the new interface at the bottom is very very helpful. It would be nice to see the effects that are actually occurring rather than what was attempted. I really think the speed is also extremely helpful.

I like this interface. The excessive empty white space, and OVERLY LOUD SOUND IN COMMERCIALS is really annoying tho. I have like 5% volume during commercials, and it's still wayyyy too loud. What?

I dont like the way the ship shield/armour/hull is done. It just seemed wierd the way its mirrored like it is.

I think white background for the info dashboard at the bottom was a bad choice. Its "loud" enough that it draws the eyes away from the feed of shipsplosions. Not sure the webcam insert adds anything and, more importantly, deprives the commentators of having the liberty of commentating naked should they chose.

The new format is much better than the old one.

The only complaint I've heard that has any validity IMHO is that it is too hard to read the tactical inset, and it would be nice if it was popped up onto the main display much more often.

A version of the tactical which had colored flags on each ship that ID'd the team and ship type would be really nice; it would help the commentators explain the strategy a bit better. Hopefully for the finals they'll have control of what goes into the main panel.

1. Scrap the commentator cam for a bigger tactical overlay
2. Make blank white space transparent
3. ???

Its better I agree. The quality level of the in space image degrades though when zoomed in and when moved around alot. Also the text generated by the brackets could be a little bigger. All things that can be fixed hopefully. Range violation warning so the watchers know a ship is in harms way would be nice as well.

I think the interface was very very awesome.

I think that the style could be improved slightly with the bright white to match the dark EVE environments though!

Delayed feed works fine to deepest, darkest New Zealand.

Interface is okay. Once you work out where to look there's more information available and more choice about what to follow. Slightly more-legible text might be nice, but I can cope.

It would be fantastic if we could have a live feed watchable at unfortunate ping and good bandwidth for later rounds. :)
