Or are the commentators not flown to Iceland anymore to commentate from the booth, and sit on discussion panels etc etc like previous ATs?

If that's the case...that really sucks.

I enjoyed the discussions and banter between matches...now everyone is working out of their bedrooms?

Couldn't give a rats about commentators getting free flights to Iceland, and being put up by CCP etc, but if the setup being used for the last few ATs (that I have watched since I started playing) why change?

Cost cutting?

Hasn't it always been like this?

As with the previous 3 or 4 tournaments they'll only be using the studio in the last 2 weekends and this is only the first of 4 so you'll have to wait.

IIRC they never had the studio / banter space up for qualifiers.

And I believe they said so in the random draw vid that they are building a whole new tournament studio, we'll be seeing it in the finals I'm sure.

Yeah this is the first time qualifiers are even broadcasted, so pls be at least a bit grateful. The finals as said in the previous post will have the brand new studio made just for the tournament.

If memory serves they initially said that they wouldnt even have commentators at all for the prelims.. so having the guys do this from their homes is pretty nice of them.

I tend to agree. Last year during AT9, you could tell they had been using the same studio for previous tournaments because of the cobwebs that were hanging down that they never cleaned. lol
