Can I please have my firebolts back?

Pretty please?

In short: I'm lvl 40 dwarf mage in EVE. Before Inferno my greedy sturdy dwarf (yes, I know I'm from Amarr Empire, but I fight for our allies on their ships for now) was shooting nice bright firebolts which I believe were called here "missile packs" at the time. On the close-up it looked pretty ugly and unrealistic, yet in tactical mode it looked just fine.

Since Inferno release my fireblots have been changed to Magic Missile (from Baldur's Gate I believe?) which look damn good when viewed from close up to 20km. The only problem is that these become invisible in tactical mode when POV is moved some 50-120km away. And since it's the main use variant for the tactical mode for me, I can tell it's looking pretty non-informative.

So here's the idea -- what if level-of-detail was introduced to the missiles, showing them in their present form on short distances and in their past form on long ones? These colored balls of the past have carried a lot of information -- missile type, who's attacking who, how many salvos are on the way to the target, etc. That information is gone now which makes me one sad dwarf-driver. If in tactical mode that information was returned I would definitely become a more happy one.

Discuss?

Thank you guys!
I'm glad that it's already done and almost deployed. Back to the tactical mode, tomorrow!

Just checked and I'm somewhat disappointed. The flares are there and you can even see them... IF you look hard enough. They hardly look thicker or brighter than the line to the target. So it's pretty hard to tell if there's anything flying towerds it (especially if there's nothing flying at the moment). So this is a bit more usable since it indicates some activity, yet it isn't something even closely resembling what it was before.

So here's another question: is there a mod or some setting that can make these flares bigger and brighter?

Yeah, it does. First thing I did was find a Minmatar NPC (a frig), let it fire missiles at me, and zoom out.

Couldn't see 'em.

Well, they are there, IF you look hard enough. Although constantly looking hard into the monitor searching for these tiny blurry dots is definitely not fun.
So, the question stands: is there any way to mod it into a bigger, brighter, prettier bolts? There has to be a way.

I guess no one cares so it's hard to tell.
But let's return to the discussion.

Yes, Harry Potter rides a Firebolt. Only the finest for the man with a scar.

The OP is a weird combination of D&D 4th Edition, and EVE...... With some D&D based stuff thrown in the mix.

By the same logic, training skills is botting, as it gives an advantage to your character without you being at the keyboard.

Never played D&D. But I know what dwarves are like (guess everyone does these days) and I've played other games like EVE -- including Baldur's Gate (Magick Missiles, remember?), Lineage 2, Aion, UO and such. After that experience it's hard not to notice that I drive dwarf around and grind goblins, animals and insects. The only major difference is that kiting was never so easy.

And of course, my dwarf is definitely spherical (look at the signature from different sides). Adding to it, it's definitely in vacuum. The liquid vacuum, that is... So we're talking about a spherical dwarf in liquid vacuum.

Didn't you cancel your sub or something?

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.
