Can we get some kind of auto-patcher auto-updater thingy?

You know how java, windows, adobe and several others have this icon thingy that runs next to the PC Clock... and you can configure it like:

1) Download and install updates automatically
2) Download and ask me if before installing
3) Ask me every time

I would like something like it for eve. So when I start my client I could go an play quickly and not wait for the patches. I would set it up in auto... yeah... auto everything. Keep it ready to play.

PS: Oh and I want it for multiple clients....Tranquility main/alt1/alt2.... Singularity main/alt1/alt2, etc

Autopatcher would be cool.

I am actually running multiple clients on the same install.
Did you have Issues or are you seeing better performance with multiple directories ?

Not really but I have the installations on different drives... I have 8 drives on this setup.

Does the launcher only check for an update once or something?

Yup.

You have one launcher for each copy of the client. Each launcher updates the copy where it was started.

And because you can't run more than one launcher at the same time, you have to run one and wait for it to download/patch/update, start the client... then start 2nd launcher, download/patch/update... repeat

Junction point the base install into multiple points; it'll patch the core stuff once, yet still have separate settings+cache per directory. It'll repeat client patches per (virtual) install though since they seem to go into the user preferences rather than the base install.

But back to the original point; yes, it should just install the patch without any clicks or confirmations or anything, and particularly client patches, you have to anyway in reality, none of the "optional" client patches have been usefully optional.

I have it set to skip the launcher, but when there's a patch it patches, then waits for me to press the big orange PLAY button. Since it starts the client direct without a launcher normally, with that option set it should just launch the EVE client immediately after patching without me having to click PLAY, I've already said I want it to PLAY by turning the launcher off.

automated patches would be freaking amazing, especially for folks with multiple clients.

CCP already has talked about doing this when they first released the launcher. I recall them using phrasing along the lines of "patch while having a nice stroll on the beach next to a sunset" or something similarly dramatic xD

They also wanna move the account login to the launcher and have the client only do character select which would then automatically mean we could do a character swap without log off :D

Sounds EA'ish (origin). But if it works... I'll dig it.
