Module multi fit

I suggest that a module gets fitted to your ship as soon as you undock rather then when you put it into your loadout window. This way you could share modules between ships. Fit the expensive afterburner to all ships and undock with the ship you want to fly. If you dock and launch the other ship, the afterburner will automatically get refitted.

I expect there would be a lot of people who wouldn't like this idea.

For me, it would nark me off as I'd forever be taking ships off and finding out that they were only half fit due to not having all the components in that station at the time. It would be exceptionally annoying.

I expect you could pop open the fit window first, and verify you had a complete loadout.

Otherwise, wouldn't we still be able to use exclusive fit modules as well?

Or we could undock without checking the fitting because we know what the fitting is and we know the modules are all fitted as the situation stands now. If it was toggleable then I couldn't care less but I like my ships to be fitted, as indeed they are now.

Huh?

Exclusive fit, as in only tied to the one ship.
(You always know it is just in the one place)

What happens when you 'fit' the same modules to three different ships and then fly one of them to another station and fly something else back? It quickly becomes painfully annoying trying to figure out where the heck everything is. The current system is far simpler, just unfit and refit as needed, but the module is always in the last place you left it.

Also, I would expect that this proposal would be painfully complicated to explain to newbies, "Yes, I know you fit that module to that ship, but the module moved, so now it's not fit to the ship, even though you did fit it before".

mxzf is quite correct, this would be very confusing to many pilots.

It seems to treat modules on a ship more like implants, which are tied to the pilot.

Or even worse, when toy fit the same module to three ships, then lose one of them. Sounds like a great way to render your entire hanger useless.

I can see where the op is going with this . It is a good idea but the mechanics behind it are just terrible . Since i fly multiple race race ships it would destroy my gaming experience having to refit a ship every time i jump into one .

Imagine this .

I just jumped into and fit a T2 frig for some fleet action . Its all faction fitted . we get back to our home system to find carriers there . Now i jump into my dread and the faction fittings for my frig are on it . Now the fleet is down 1 dread because it needs to be refitted . That kind of mechanic is not good for me or anyone else
