I'm writing to make a public request for survey data that I can use for my thesis on predisposition factors in capsule-induced cerebromedullospinal disconnection (CICD).

There are many terms used colloquially such as mind-lock, wet-graving and in academic circles such as capsule-engendered asensory catatonia and capsule-induced autonomic neuropathy.

These simply describe variations in what is ultimately a debilitating disorder that has effected many since the Jove introduced hydrostatic pod technology over a century ago [1]. With life expectancies ever increasing even without cloning technologies, this disorder (abhorrently still incurable in its severest forms) has left countless families suffering in its wake.

I have spent years championing research in this field; it is unfortunate that funders only see a statistically insignificant proportion of capsuleers afflicted based on 5 year old secondary reports of papers and talks given by an Amarrian researcher, Reverend Doctor Rakban Nadapur [2] (primary sources are still withheld by Amarrian officials despite my best efforts.)

The unfortunate truth, however, is that not enough is known about the causes and possible predispositions to CICD and it will continue to afflict thousands. This is why I implore you, for your own sake if not for others, to support such research.

I am currently working towards my Sc.D within the Neuroscience Department of the School of Applied Sciences (woefully underfunded as I have consistently expressed to the board) and I am ethically bound to declare assets provided by Zainou Biotech that prohibit stronger academic ties to the University of Caille Neuroscience Foundation.

So I come to a public channel to request that in some small way you could contribute data towards a small part of my research. I have developed a questionnaire that requests no personally identifiable data, confidentiality is therefore a moot point, and surveys factors such as bloodlines, piloting activities and personal experiences of phenomena encountered. I'd like to reiterate that the questionnaire contains manually entered fields and requests no personally identifiable data. The form is hosted on some back water server that the department can hardly afford and you can access it below.

When will this be fixed?

I'm afraid the cheap server hosting the questionnaire might be incompatible with the standard Neocom browser. Until we can upgrade, I hope that you'll be able to use an alternative browser?

I've tried to fill out your form in a number of browsers and have not been able to complete the form - all of the drop-down items do not register my input. I am not sure whether I should supply information, however - specifics of my life may skew your data set.

Can't say I've ever had anything that might be a side-effect of neural interfacing, but I'm a fairly 'young' Capsuleer.

I've had a myriad of minor health problems, but all are unrelated to time in the pod, so eh.

It's an interesting subject even if foreign to me, I'll keep a watchful eye on it.

One minor correction: there are a total of 10 implant slots, not 9.

Survey Completed. However, I was under the impression that our resistance to mind-lock is the trait which permits us to become capsuleers in the first place, or at least the sort of independent, non-government-affiliated sort of capsuleers that we are.

It's the genetic trait which allows us to interface with the pod and then disconnect again - while the ordinary human gets stuck and can't get their mind back into their own body - which qualifies us for this. It would make sense that few people possessing this trait would somehow suffer from mind-lock anyways.

Unless, of course, you are talking about something different which happens to have a very similar description.

I would like to iterate as a firm believer of strengths in the most observably 'weak' of conditions that the condition itself does stipulate that liquid functional intelligence is wholly intact and that only 'the interface between behavioural predispositions and physiological function 'is the criteria for a wet grave.


That being said I would debate and posit that Sansha and perhaps even the one folklore refers to as 'The Broker' may suffer from this condition.

All the rumours surrounding multiple active clones indicate, to me at least, that the individuals have long since surpassed their crystalline requirement for a 'singular presence', the kind of presence that all free moving physical entities need for identity, in order to perform the tasks they are observed as performing.



All of the above said; I feel that the research is hindered by the lack of funding and I am glad to hear of your efforts.


As I am no expert, I am reluctant to provide the information you require as I am still able to move around when not in my pod and I am therefore superfluous datum in the research.
