Right. The story behind that is he wanted to kill Orcas. Now, most miners are at least bright enough to scatter when their corp is wardecced, either disbanding and reforming, ceasing their mining activities, whatever. But every once in awhile he'd get one that would see that they'd been wardecced by a one man corp, and would do nothing. The point of the smartbombs is exactly as Weaselior said - that many faction smartbombs in the right order is just enough to kill a pod, if properly timed, even if the Orca pilot had attempted (fruitlessly thanks to aggro mechanics) to log his ship off to save it.

Not entirely sure how concord became involved but I would have to guess that it was an accident involving the smartbombs and that other Ishtar.

Cool.

I am left to wonder, in a wardec (you know, PvP some times might happen two ways) why didn't he use something less expensive or sturdier like a smart bomb battleship? I have seen many videos / killmails doing that.

for anyone who wanted to know.... heres what happened with his Ishtar death.

Ok so I was flying around poinen, warped 200km off an Abandoned Mining Colony beacon and saw an Ishtar there. Warped next to them to watch the miners die when I noticed he was using smartbombs and thought it would be funny to get him concorded. So I went into the smartbombs, he went red as predicted and I shot him with the assistance of our good old friend concord. The miner was happy and gave a generous donation :)

RomeStar, this was already addressed in the FAQ in the post I link in the OP. I will 1v1 anyone, because I have no fear whatsoever. I am arguably the best 1v1 fighter in EVE. However they will need to prove their honour to me first by Concording themselves.

So now we have entered "silly season," where people are going to be throwing the kitchen sink at me because they don't approve of the way I'm handling things in the ice field. Yes, clearly the fact that I lost a ship a month and a half ago in an unrelated incident is a huge victory for the miners of Halaima. Roll

Now let's set the record straight. It's true that my ishtar was lost in a tragic accident involving the smartbombing of a third party. It's also true that I generally played fast and loose with my smarties during the orca campaign, because smartbombs were the only way I could consistently kill pods in highsec. As it happens, I destroyed countless precious implants this way, and I believe implant losses actually account for the majority of the 50+ billion isk in damages I inflicted on the orca gangs during those months.

Yes, sometimes I made mistakes in my career, and I have lost ships. In PvP, things don't always work out. But I killed far more than I lost. I'm proud to run on my record.

I'll tell you this. I would gladly lose a hundred ishtars to smartbombing accidents if it meant destroying even one orca pilot capsule.

As it turned out, I just didn't have to. Because that's how good I am. Cool

Having answered these questions, I intend to get back to work, working to help the people of Halaima.

Thank you.

No, that's just you forming one of your sermons.

I giggled at the guy evilly taking a shot at getting a kill "for free".

It's completely unrelated with what you do with bots or miners or whatever you believe you have a mission to kill.

I would have posted the identical giggle if you were called DonaldDuck313 and were smart bombing at Jita gate.

I could care less about miners; I kill them myself. No. What interested me was that your business model relies on the only unflaggable aggression in EVE. While I don't know what could be done about it, in terms of rules or changes to game mechanics, it did occur to me that there might be a "simple" physics solution. While I intend to try this out myself, perhaps others of you will find a use for the information or have already demonstrated it to be ineffective and can relay your experience.

I encourage you to try this out. I can't imagine it ending well. You need to time your bump to have exactly the right force angle and timing to cancel out the bump.

Otherwise you get:
Bump Ship ---> Miner ------>
<----------------------------- Counter Bump (argh!)

Or................................^
Bump Ship ---> Miner /
..............................^
...............................\ Counter Bump (argh!)

Also, I'd like to reserve 10 shares in the next round. I hope this business expands.

Newton's cradle involves precisely positioned pendulums at exact opposite ends of each other that are touching. You are dealing with 3d billiards.

That said I'd genuinely love to be proven wrong. Give your idea a shot and report back.

You have to realize that he is just a simple, regular, ordinary temple priest. All he has is faith to support his conclusions.
