Any tips on how i should go about this safely? I know some people are known to work as middle men for holding collateral.

Don't do it via forums.

Especially don't do it via a roleplay forum (this one).

Especially don't do it via strangers in a roleplay forum.

Especially don't do it via strangers in a roleplay forum while telling them how much their "business" needs to cost to milk you dry.

Invest in yourself. If you've hit the natural limitation on your available time, invest in more lower return but time-cheap items.

Best advice I could give is with extreme caution! As I'm sure you are aware eve is filled with plenty of scams. personally I almost always ask for collateral that I can hold, especially when I'm handling investors isk. So if you have the option ask to hold the collateral, or invest in friends that are within driving distance for leg breakingLol

You can also invest in secured offerings by bigger names (Tornsoull, Chribba, myself, Dark, Wirox, etc), those are generally considered pretty safe bets, but they will net you smaller returns for that safety.

I do offer a service that allows for reservations and deposits which you can check out here: Link
But that still involves trusting somebody other than yourself, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

There's also the option in investing in some low maintenance bpo copying, speculation, and manufacturing. Just really depends on what you're looking for as far as involvement and returns goes. Personally I prefer low maintenance and small returns over high maintenance and large returns.Smile

There is no such thing as a safe investment; everything has a risk.

Here is an idea that I have been thinking about for a while. It is a bond service exchange run via the BSAC exchange. BSAC will act as a third party and provide you with the tools to manage your own loaning business. You chose the rate, the clients, the terms, etc.

This is how it works. You would be regarded as the lender, and there could be multiple lenders. Let’s say Player A wants a loan of 1.0 B ISK for y months, so he places collateral with the exchange. Lenders receive an alert that player A wants to borrow 1.0 B ISK. Lenders can review player’s A credit history (if any), any investments held by the exchange, and the collateral placed in the exchange. Lenders decide the credit worth of player A, and make an offer to lend 1.0 B ISK at x% for y months. Player A accept the offer form Lender B and money is transferred from the Lender’s account to the Player’s account. Player A then withdraws the ISK. Upon completion, Player A deposit the ISK and interest due in his exchange account, and pays off the loan. Optionally, He could agree to make monthly payments. Once the loan is paid, the collateral is released to player A. In the event Player A defaults, the lender gets the collateral and any investments deem necessary to cover any loses.

In summary, it would be your own loaning business run via the exchange.

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you are interested in setting up such service. I don’t know how strong the loaning business is. You should look at BMBE reports to get a better idea.

Thanks for the advice, i think the main issue is mutual distrust, ie I would obviously never give ISK for less than 110% collateral but then why would they trust me with 110% collateral in first place? So it's a chicken and egg problem :)

Yeah there's always going to be risk if you involve a middle man. You can bypass that risk by becoming the lender and collateral holder and pass the risk on to the borrower. That's about as safe as it gets for you.Blink Just make sure to evaluate the collateral and add a safety margin of say 10-20% so that even if the market fluctuates you're covered.

I'll take a small portion(up to 10b is my max confidence level) of that off your hands for long term. We could determine how to handle the interest rate as I've never done anything longer than 30 days.
