Time to update this crappy auto pilot UI!

Hi,

Many things changed since I started playing eve in 2007, but the auto pilot UI is still the same crap like before.

we have a security slider that does absolutely nothing useful, and we lack the most basic of settings for planning travel.

for all those who have to avoid systems with certain security status, say 0.9 and 1.0.
why on earth do we have to search every frigging system and click avoid them 1 by one?
and how are supposed to do that with a 40 system plan that the UI isn't even big enough for?

this is a tedious brainless task that has no game play element or fun to it what so ever, it's just a fraking waste of time. don't you think that is ridiculous for a game of 2012?

is it so hard to implement a working security slider that allows us to avoid systems of certain security status? 1 slide and it avoids all 1.0 systems, 2 slides and it avoids 0.9 as well!

seriously, this is less than 30 mins of programming, make a slider that works for those who do not carebear in empire the whole time and have a security status of 5!

I really hate it when people who have never programmed before try and estimate the time it would take to program something. A change like this would take the better part of a week of dev hours. The time consuming part isn't usually writing the little snippet of code itself, the thing that takes forever is first finding where that code needs to actually go and then making sure that you didn't break something else when you were adding your part.

Also, overly dramatic statements don't emphasize your point like you seem to think they do, they just make you look like an entitled brat who cares for nothing except the features that you want in the game right now and you'll have a tantrum otherwise. Not trying to make any judgements about you, just pointing out that it doesn't exactly make you come across as the most level headed and intelligent individual.

That said, yes, being able to set the auto-pilot to avoid systems by security status would be a good feature to have. The apparent functionality is in the game, but it doesn't seem to do anything really, AFAIK.

first, i do know about programming as I studied computer engineering, and I do know that it actually takes more than 30 mins to do the whole thing, however, i would give it 3-4 days max for a good programmer.

i am aware that I exaggerate a bit, but last year i finally convinced myself to return to eve, and on the 2nd day I had miss clicked to avoid a 0.9 instead of a 1.0, I lost a legion for which i had to sell most of my high sec assets at the time. needless to say, i quit again for 9 months.

now i reluctantly manage to give it a try again, and the first thing i have to do is to go through that ridiculous, mindless ****** process of looking at every small square on auto pilot and manually clicking the 1.0 ones away, how do you expect my reaction to be?

besides, try focusing on the suggestion regarding the game rather than my personal attitude.

So you want us to help you troll people in game? PVP where people expect you to pvp. Take engagements that make sense, and do the work to fix your sec status. There seem to be plenty of us who can figure out how to survive with negative sec statuses for long periods of time without special features designed for no other purpose than to allow you to be an ass in game and still have little to no repercussions.

Hmm this post deleted what I typed. doesn't that suck. I'd much rather see them spend time fixing the broken forums. I don't like this idea because I think the game is already too easy on pirates. Fix your sec status or deal with the time required to navigate safely in areas which are hostile to you. We can't even AP through low sec because of pirating, why should pirates be able to ap easily through high sec?

I think they should kill your legion, AND pod you if your too low sec status to be in a specific system.

it doesn't matter what you think of me, the lack of this simple feature is an insult to a sophisticated game like eve!

the consequences of a low-sec status is to not have access to certain systems, that is completely fine, however, having to check every system manually every time someone wants to jump, that is redundant and ridiculous.

there is already a slider in auto pilot, just make it work!

You could also always think of it as a bonus consequence instead of whining about it.

As I said before, I'm still in favor of it being fixed. However, I also recognize it as being the bottom of the list of things that need fixing. An extra consequence (which is simple enough to work around) for someone doing something wrong is far less a priority than the many real gameplay issues.

it's amazing how many people oppose any kind of positive change, what is wrong with you? will it destroy your gaming experience if we get a better client interface?

Nope, but there are other things I want my money paying programmers to do then stupid UI work. The ui WORKS. Now lets fix the fact that there is no point to low sec so people start using it, lets fix the fact that POS operation sucks and is in dire need of revamp of the whole system. Better system upgrades that make sense for Faction Warfare, More wormhole space added. You know things that will effect the game play in it's entirety rather than just fix it for the mindless pirate who hasn't figure out what an alt is for.

You obviously have not : read any dev blogs in a while/talked to a dev. Everything cept adding more W-space has been mentioned by them as something they want to work on. But the rea ***** is (gasp) serious lack of man-hours to do it all at once.
