Noob question about dual proping

OK I was under the impression that disruptors shut down MWDs so i thought dual proping worked like this.

step one- get a point on target/get pointed
step two- turn on AB stay out of web range
step three- profit

but I learned this was not the case when In a friendly frigate dual with a corpmate me in a rifer with an AB (no it was not dual proped but when in disruptor range same idea) and he was in a blaster boat. his MWD did not shut down and I was obliterated when he got in web range.

so why use the extra prop mod when you could just keep your MWD running with a point on you? I mean I could see the sig reduction being useful but the idea of speed tanking is to be moving fast enough not to be hit at all.

MWD it turned off by a warp scrambler (not disruptor). The idea with dual prop is that you can keep up speed even when scramed by turning on your AB or just keeping the MWD going if they don't have one.
webs will still slow down an AB/MWD but it's better then nothing.

Dual prop is most useful if you want to fight a larger ship with a smaller one. The idea is to burn at him with MWD to get scram as fast as possible. Once you have him pinned down you switch into close orbit and use your AB to keep the traversal + speed high so that he has troubles hitting you with his guns or missiles.

OK have I just been looking at bad fittings? All the dram fittings I've seen were AB, WMD, warp disruptor, med shield extender in the mids. if you got in web and scram range with that than just about any ship would be out running you. which is bad when you're in a squishy speed tanker.

If you have a disruptor why would you be trying to get into scram range?

Not true. With the medium shield extender your signature is still only 39m, combined with high agility your speed is still greater than 700m/s with ab on and under web. That's orbiting faster than most small guns can track. Im speaking from experience. I would suggest scram to avoid enemy mwd to catch you
