Mayor slowdown with multiple clients. [Fix'd on SiSi]

Happens to me when I run three accounts. When I open my third account everything works fine for a bit, 60 FPS across all three clients. But if I undock even one character BAM every client drops to 6-7 FPS and will stay that way until I log off, not even re-docking helps.

As Snorlax said, we're investigating. It would really help if people experiencing this issue told us how many clients they're running, how much RAM they have and what type of video card. Either as a reply to this post or in a bugreport.

Thanks

1 - 4 clients, doesn't seem to matter as it does it regardless how many clients I try to run. I've experienced socket closed errors ar gates and while docking. FPS slows to a crawl, module s get all wonkey and mining is pretty much a no go. I can't imagine what it would have been like had I decided to mission tonight. It actually seems to be bogging down my PC, although monitoring shows nothing out of the ordinary. I can't seem to stay connected now as my client just received yet another socket closed error sitting in station as I type this.

Not sure if i'm right but all of the specs i've read that seem to have this issue are using Nvidia cards, or did i miss something?

I'm getting the same issue (And the socket closing one) since patch, i've comfortably run two clients before now the only slowdown i noticed pre patch was opening the same planet for PI in both windows, but now its almost everything i do. If i try to warp both clients at the same time, my PC just begs for mercy :(.

I'm using a slightly old Nvidia card too, just thought that might have something to do with it is all :S. Hope we get a fix soon though!

Why am I paying for this? You should be paying me for being a constant beta-tester for your weak programming team.

This sounds like the same problem that effects me, if I enter two character into space, drops to 6-9 fps, it will effect all clients, even docked/ones at login screen, and logging out the ones in space will not resolve it.

There's people using ati cards effected too. I actually use a GTX 670 and it peforms like a 680, near one of the best cards out there atm, it actually performs worse than my gtx 460 for EVE since the 1.1 patch.

There is also error with Commit size of Eve, overtime in general eve can take less memory than app declare to... cousing low memory message and generaly screwing whole system as nothing new will get up if no space left on request for Commit space.

New patch today has fixed this for me \0/

Nice job CCP, thanks Cool

EDIT: I spoke too soon. After re-docking one client, both screens are back at 5FPS.

I only run a single client but my performance improved a lot with this update today. Just need to see if the memory leak is still an issue.

Hasn't fixed it for me.

Seems I don't even need to load a second eve into space, I just need multiple clients running, log in 1 into space, load fraps, which makes all the eve windows dissapear for a second and then reload with 5 fps.

We've tracked down a likely culprit and are working on a fix. Sometimes seemingly innocent changes in low-level rendering code can have unforeseen side effects.

We'll try to get a fix out on Sisi as soon as possible so that we can verify we've really figured it out this time.

Whatever the patch changed.
The sideeffect is that it has no effect. *scnr* Big smile

No improvements here. Upon logging into 2nd client I go from about 40 FPS to ~5 FPS or worse.

GeForce 9800GT, 4gb ram

Also, latest patch has botched up the in-station inventory tree. Default tree size is super-narrow, and it NEVER saves it when I make it wider.

Older Nvidia graphic here, 8GB and I5. I noticed it yesterday for the first time (where i actually tried to check, wtf happened, might have occured earlier). Started, when i logged in a 3rd client and caused my fps to drop massivly to around 5-10. I logged the 3rd client off and the fps didn't change much (maxed at 12).
Today i tried some more and it was going good with 2 clients (one docked all the time - A, other in space doing stuff - B). After I docked and undocked a few times (2-3 don't know, Clioent B) both client's fps drop to 15 and don't seem to recover. It seems to slow down my system aswell, although nothing indicates that (CPU and RAM-usage as always).
When I minimize the client which seemingly causes the slowdown (Client B), Client A goes up again (while minimizing A doesn't do the same on B). Maximizing B will result in slowing down the system again.

2x GTX560 running in SLI here, using 2560*1600 resolution, fixed window mode.

Single client - constant 60fps.

Start 2nd client - 60fps. After ~5 minutes however, both clients slow down to < 5fps. GPU usage drops down to single digits and the fans slow down. Nothing resolves this issue except closing one of the clients. After doing that the framerate jumps back to 60fps almost immediately.

DXDIAG: http://pastebin.com/GjBTr5jH

Unfortunately I'm not able to run SISI but I hope this helps.

Hi!

Our test-server Singularity was just updated with a patch for these performance problems. We found some issues in our rendering code, which caused the GPU being flooded with very small requests. This has been fixed now on Singularity and we assume that this will solve the performance problems or at least reduce them a lot.

It would be awesome if you could help us by testing this on Singularity, as we have still trouble with reproducing the issue reliably in-house. Please report back here, if it worked for you, or if you client is still totally slow.

Problem seems SOLVED for me with todays patch on TQ. I also forced my NVIDIA drivers for set antialiasing OFF.

same here also since 1.1 cannot run more than 1 client without huge fps drops/system hangup, vid card set to performance, no improvement
