Maybe you should start logging in (in hi sec in this case). It gives perspective.

i've mined in high sec since the day i started the game, and i've not been in null sec that long.

It depends on where you mine in highsec. I'm guessing you spent most of your time in Amarr space, or some low traffic system.

less than 6 jumps from jita.

I have extensive experience with ice mining, those toilet paper ships stuck in totally evident, high population few systems really attract gankers like honey attracts (nullsec) bees Cool

Would you explain the logic train that led you to this conclusion? How are hi-sec miners "worthless parasites" to EVE? I'm relatively new, but I thought that mining has always been an integral part of EVE since its inception.

End result: lazy and stupid people get rich at the expense of the overall health of the game. I think that's a pretty good definition of "worthless parasite".

I have done quite a bit of mining but I wouldnt say I ever got "rich" at it in eve terms. I enjoy it because I can do something worthwhile withou having to watch the scanner, for gankers all the time. I dont afk mine but it is something I can do that takes low attention and is not stressful...

The insurance nerf brought Boomeranging into vogue and the miners started crying.

Boo hoo, CCP has hystograms and data for everything even about how often you brown nose null sec alliances. They don't need to smell the odor, they have DATA and statistics.
If they see a strange increase somewhere they investigate on the causes and eventually intervene.

Boomerang like many "old time tricks" was fine as long as it was something done by few. Once a trick becomes super mainstream and the invevitable dumbass posts a whole manual about how to do it on GD (which happened), then CCP nerfs it.

Either something's an exploit or it's not, coming into vogue didn't change the mechanics, it changed the miners perception of the mechanics and they cried. The line always was that your ship had to die after going GCC. No line on when nor where.

Oh, and CCP had ruled on Boomeranging years before. This wasn't a matter of flying under CCP's radar until it got popular, They knew about it and had ruled it a-OK.

You can have Low Effort OR Low Risk if you want to make a profit. Pick one.

Reference for CCP's a-OK?

It's not 5 miners on a forum who caused the nerf but the introduction of stuff like agility Tornados that made it mainstream and so CCP had to hurry up and nerf it.

Please stop insulting the other readers intelligence.

Well to be sure its not that much of a profit. Running one Hulk at this point will get me 15mil an hour. And that is if I am really efficient with my targeting and unloads. That does not seem like game breaking profit to me.

Also, mining only fills a demand for minerals that is created by all the griefers blowing up ships all the damn time. So in a way, if you all stopped popping ships in high sec then the demand for them, and then minerals would go down considerably.

So by all means, keep blowing up the miners, it just makes it more profitable.

Thanks for the support.

And any income with no risk AND no effort is bad for the game.

I agree. IMO, if a miner wants to AFK mine in highsec, he deserves to be blown up. It's just as bad as botting in my eyes.

I always look for low population areas to mine in when I do need highsec minerals, and even then I spam the dscan button anytime a new person enters local.

I don't consider myself a typical "highsec miner" though. I just finished mining out a grav site in a WH yesterday, got a **** ton of abc ores. I'm stocked up on megacyte for a few weeks now.

with the current price of pyerite you're better off mining scordite and selling excess pyerite and buying mega/zyd (especially zyd)

Yeah, I'm not an isk/hour gamer though, I could care less if I save a couple million isk doing something different. I play to have fun.

The tension in a WH is definitely different. I'm sure prolonged exposure can cause some sort of mental disease lol
