Just curious what people think.
I happen to agree wholeheartedly.

I don't think most people give this any thought at all.
There is no consequence beyond the obvious.
Those who know/follow him knew it was coming.

While I do agree with many things said about him and I have no love of Apple products or the company, I just can't wish ill will on someone like him. He did, for better or worst (more worst if you ask me), change the world in a way.

Now, anyone taking bets on how long Apple can survive as a company?

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

Maybe a year, if Tim Cook can manage that long.

I liked him, he made computers for people that couldn't use real computers.

Of course I know nothing about the guy or what he did, but he was in charge of making those things with the apple on them!

People who can't use a real computers don't need a computer. If someone can't be bothered to learn how to do something right **** them. Idiot proof technology, with all this focus on accessibility, and user friendliness is ******* stupid.

I remember the days of MS-DOS, I remember when you actually had to have a brain to even turn on a computer.
I remember the days when the internet was truly a new frontier, when hacking and programming took skill and knowledge.

All you do when making anything easier to get is let a lower class of diots use something that they should have no right to even touch.

Essentially get a brain learn how to use a real ******* computer, learn how computers work, learn the damn difference between RAM, ROM, SSDs, and maybe just maybe I'll agree you should use a computer.

As long as we focus on making things idiot proof, we invite a substandard group of people to a realm where they don't belong.

Form over function is a waste, catering to people who will only use .5% of a computer's capability is a waste.
And robbing truly knowledgeable people of ways to access, change, reprogram, and perform basic maintenance for the sake of keeping a bunch of idiots from ******* up their machines due to ignorance is ******* wrong.

You're wrong. You're stupid. Steve Jobs was amazing. We should make a memorial.

Now go ahead and type the other twenty pages of strong opinion you have just waiting to explode inside you. Then we can let the thread die.

Don't you know this is what blogs are for? You don't need random forum people who care little for your topic. You can just type to your heart's content and label your opinions with tags and keywords. Then people who feel strongly one way or the other will find it and give you that attention you crave.

DISCUSSION forum?

While I do agree that the "raah he's the devil he must die" is a bit... dumb, telling someone off because he posted an opinion on the OOPE forum is hilarious.

It's not that he posted an opinion, it's that he made a thread with a strong opinion but didn't come out with it. He wants someone to start for him like he needs an excuse to say it so he doesn't look loony toons for suddenly raging about a topic that doesn't deserve rage.

Immature **** move to be glad someone died of cancer. And then be an internet tough guy to boast about it. Dont have any real love for apple stuff, but I sure dont wish suffering over it. Because of apple completion was created thus pushing the rest of the industry to step it up. Also PIxar! Come on awesome movies.

Probably need to question yourself if you actual take joy in the suffering of someone who died from pancreatic cancer. Especially from someone who didnt have it coming. EG: a mass murdering, child molesting, intolerant ******* etc.

Too reiterate Im not a fan of apple in the least bit, but doesnt mean I care to see people who do like the stuff or flaunt it death and suffering.

I don't see the tragedy or sadness in his death. A bit young, yeah, but the man had money coming out the wazoo and most likely spent his last days comfortably zonked on painkillers after a fulfilling and interesting life.

I'm far from being happy or glad about it, but it gets a wholehearted "meh" from me. His death affects me in absolutely no way personally.

It not his death that makes me happy, and I sure hope he went through as little pain as possible.
But I won't lie, I am glad he is gone.

Perhaps I could've phrased my OP a little more gently.

It's funny. People like to make references to Apple products and their users as nearly religious fanatics. Ironically, hardcore tech types that believe technology belongs solely in the hands of the people who are properly trained and intelligent enough to understand it are more like the priests of the Catholic church before the establishment of the Protestant churches. Only the truly enlightened and those closest to their God were permitted to talk with Him. All of the "common" people were expected to go through the priests for access.

A lot of the current generation of tech "priests" see themselves as possessing the same sort of exclusive access/knowledge. They are jealous of this power and get defensive when common people deign to access the same. Steve Jobs, in a way broke through those barriers and helped bring computing to everyday users. The democratization of computing is/was a good thing. Withholding knowledge/access is a Dark Ages way of thinking. Enlightenment can only come from ubiquitous access.

All that said, Steve Jobs wasn't altogether altruistic...anyone who steps into an Apple store has seen the price of that democratization...and it ain't cheap. He was a capitalist if ever there was one...creating the highest value corporation in the world.

Personally, I don't think Apple will last in it's current position without him.

Yes, it's a bit like the reaction EVE'rs tend to have towards WoW, and vice versa, each thinking they are the holy grail when it comes to gaming and the community. They aren't but they are too blind to see it

Wishing ill on anyone is just wrong. I never liked Apple products mainly because of how fanatical people have become about it and because of how Apple teamed up with Microsoft in order to eliminate Google as their competitor (patent wars), but that doesn't mean Steve Jobs didn't change the world for the better. If it wasn't for him, we would never have seen the tablet and smartphone market take off the way it did (among many other things like personal computers, etc.).
