MacBook Pro

Nvidia 8600GT 256MB

OSX Lion

Old gaer, but used to run 2 clients fine with 20-30 fps at low settings, which is fine while on on travel on a laptop.

Now both are 4-5FPS when at a pos. Only in free space it's up to 20. unplayable.

Same thing happened in Inferno 1.0 until you guys released the "mac graphical update patch"

Sounds like a threading issue to me. The pool is getting full of un-utilised or deadlocked threads gradually. I would imagine that additional threads are created when jumping, docking, etc., anything that involves a new graphical scene/overlay to be incorporated basically.

More useless threads = CPU doing less (showing as being idle, whilst it's jumping around yielding threads) = The gradual or quick degradation of performance, depending on how many are being added/removed.

If that's the case, not much you can do except let the CCP boys do their job.

Also, as threads are controlled in part by the OS, that would explain why some people experience it a lot more severely than others.

Hope it works, Just docked up a while ago after jumping to an adjacent system, fps crawls to about 10-15, outside is a little better but not by much. I dare not undock again until fps gets alot better and stable.

Same problem w/two clients running. Saw it on Sisi last week and was afraid I'd see it in the final release...

Same here, single-client with dual monitor in fixed-windows mode. Graphics card is AMD HD 6870, latest catalyst drivers.

Please look into this, the game is unplayable right now :(

Me too, 9800GTX card, latest drivers, dual-monitor fixed windows.. 5fps when I log in the 2nd client and undock him.

This is about CPU not GPU, that much is clear.

+1

3 clients running, slowdown starts soon after 2 or 3 client opens and keeps on going until unplayable (1~2 fps across all client).

Two days & two patches later nothing has changed. Guess CCP has to reimburse players with more than 1 account.

This is probably a bigger problem that cant be done from day to day, give them time and we will see.

Hi, the fix I was referring to is currently on Singularity. If any of you have time, we'd really appreciate it if you could see if this build resolves your issue. The fix concerns persistence of settings, something that this fine thread clued us into. Given that, please keep a careful eye out for saving of client settings, including window layout, etc. Thanks for your patience in this matter Big smile

i dont know about singularity or this fix you have applied there, but the window settings you mention, small things keep changing on Tranquility, such as overview size from when i last logged off. No big problem, just since you asked i thought you might like to know.

I've just been on Singularity and I'm still getting <8 FPS on a single client while sitting in station. No improvement I can notice.

Could you please send a bugreport through the ingame bugreporting tool at F12 from Singularity, while this issue is happening? Please include a screenshot of your client, with open fps monitor (ctrl+f) and client monitor (ctrl+alt+shift+m).

Thanks!

Tested it, I was trying to do the stuff I usually do on Tranquility but so far I see no difference I must say. But again when I hide my UI (for screenshot) , seems the framerate goes up quite significantly.
