The ISD problem

I'd like to know the view of the CSM on the current situation in the forums. As you might know, members of the ISD are censoring and locking threads left and right, making huge parts of the forums pretty much unreadable.

I am in favor of having a little moderation on the forums, but there's nothing moderate about what is happening right now.

This is just acompetition between various ISDs and Phantom who can trash more threads by censoring them into oblivion.

Is the CSM looking into this, what are their opinions and are they going to relay to CCP that there's a problem here? Discuss.

What are they locking?

If its threads with Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, AntiSemitism then I'd tell them to Lock away.

That stuff is toxic and unjustifiable.

There's lots of miscommunication/incorrect usage of words on their behalf. If, for example, someone mentions the word "jew", the reaction is "it's racism", even though jews aren't a race. And for the usage of the word "jew" to be anti-semitism, there has to be hatred or hostile intent behind the word. Just using the word itself is not an automatic case of anti-semitism.

I find that the most toxic is very often those who see a word, and automatically get a knee-jerk reaction to it. Kind of like this picture shows: http://cdn.iwastesomuchtime.com/52020122228175202012222039iwsmt.jpg

Don't be that guy.

Cyno's lit, bridge is up, but one pilot won't be jumping home.

I have to agree. The ISD volunteers have been locking threads out of personal bias rather than forum rule violations.

Fortunately ISD members are not immune to being reported.

Indeed. Let's hope this leads to an improvement.
