Looking for mega fits

Hello all
I have been using a drake since i could fly it, but i am looking to expand in to level 4 missions, and i have picked the ship i like but the fitting i have on it right now is not as good as i like and i was wondering about these things.

1 what is the best way to go with a mega shield tank or a armor tank
2 what range of guns should i put it it
3 should i have torps or cruise missiles on it
4 just general fits that would work well for a level 4 mission

but i have done all my skills for missiles and drake fittings so what skills do i need to look at for the mega fitting all tech 2 rigs guns and all and what is the best named gear

Armor, you don't really have the mid slots for a shield tank.

A general idea:

Low slots: Large Armor Repper, as many Magstabs as you can and as few mission-specific armor hardeners as you can get away with.
Mid slots: Heavy cap booster, afterburner, tracking computers.
High slots: Prototype 425mm railguns, you won't have the skills for T2 for a long, long while.
Rigs: Probably Auxiliary Nano Pumps, you won't have the grid for gunnery rigs (and they'll be stacking penalized anyway). overclocking unit if you need one.
Drones: I like 4 heavies + 5 lights on 125 bandwidth ships.

Be aware that the Mega isn't generally considered a very good missioning ship.

Ok i do understand that
and when i type on forums i tend to type like i talk so i end up with out a lot of the grammer stuff and sorry for that and thank you for the help.
and about the missles i have found that useing missles and drones when the hostles are too close to hit withe guns.

If you're having issues with range, there were some old Blaster-'thron fits somewhere. Not certain how viable they still are (or are not). Up close, let the drones handle it, or use your propulsion mods and some skillful flying to get enough distance to bring the rails around on the target.

A Mega will get the most out of hybrids and very little 'oomph' out of missiles. Focus on the strengths, look at your armor tank and DPS/Tracking mods and you'll start seeing a nice little ship. I used to fly one way back in the day, and I've been looking at dusting one off shortly just because I miss it so.

You do realize that a megathron (I assume that's what you mean by "mega") has 7 turret hardpoints and 2 launcher hardpoints, right? Missiles are not its strong suit.

What exactly sold you on the megathron? I'm guessing that sweet sexy silhouette?

just by asking if shields would work on it means you likely didnt do any research yourself, but is all seriousness this is what i would recomend for a newer player trying to get into level 4's

I'll be the first to admit there are quite a few trolls in these forums. It didn't help that you opened yourself up it by asking what kind of missiles to use for a gun boat. I'm just curious but why not the Raven. That is a missile boat.

I could be wrong but somehow I don't think the OP has the skills or ISK. This would make a nice mission ship but an also a nice loot pinata! Of course maybe no one would bother scanning a mega?

Well I would recommend to have your gunnery support skills to at least 4. As long as you have that and decent drone skills to deal with frigates you'll do fine.

Just out of curiosity

why the freckle aren't you just upgrading to a raven, really good lvl 4 mission ship, you probarbly already have the missile skills.

Looking at your bio i can see you're quite new(so am i) just go for one race, one thing for starters.

1: get in a drake with somewhat good support skills=2-3 months
2: Get in a raven, work on rest of support skills 4-5 months.

If you jump around too much you'll end up only being able to fly most ships at 20-30% of their proper value as in, lower dmg/tank than if you sticked to one.

switch out the hardners for the specific rat type you will be facing. using plutonium will be cheaper then AM, 350's have better tracking then 425's and if you have low skills with guns then you will need every bit of it.

The ab is generally off except when you need to get to a far off warp gate, or run a bit from enemies.
expect to lose drones, and as a caldari pilot i expect you dont have great drone skills.

If you find that the ship is still not cap stable(in eft or pyfa) drop the Burst arator rig and swap it for a aux nano armor rig. you should be stable, With all skills at 0 in pyfa, it has 65 minutes of running time (ab off) which should be more then enough time for you to run your mission.
Two LAR II is generally overkill for tank. Most missions wont throw that much dps at you in one go, if you feel safer with two reppers, do one large and one medium.

For the most part though i recommend a dominix as your first Large rail gun platform. It will teach you about how to manuver your ship while having enough tank to get you through it. also because rails are not the primary damage source from a domi, its not that important to have good guns skills off the bat.

As you progress, check out the navy megathron or the Kronos. and take a look at cap boosted setups for each.
the megathron is a little bit awkward for mission running as it is annoying to keep stable and still get enough damage out of it. the navy version is a bit easier. same goes for the navy domi.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

Well i have been a drake pilot for most of the time, I feel i need to get out the missile boats and try some gun ships.
But i will work on the better mega's but i mgiht go the next step
