Nullsec Local Delay

Removing local should come. But down the line. Way down the line.

Percieved risk is a huge reason that nullsec is not prospering as an area to play the game at the moment (See the making nullsec vibrant thread), and increasing the perceived risk of entering null without sorting out it's other inefficiencies will do no good at this time.

To use a dodgy analogy - I see nullsec at the moment as a three legged table with a rotten leg. If you remove the rotten leg then the table will come crashing down. The more legs you add the lower the risk of removing the rotten one.

Nullsec needs more incentives before it has more deterrents.

Again, wormspace is what it is because of mass limitations, unpredictable entry/exit points, and no cynos, as well as delayed local.

Introduce delayed local into 0.0 as it is and all you'll see is massive gangs of recons and stealth bombers fumbling around blindfolded and the occasional blackops hotdrop.

Will there ever be a Local Delay (or complete removal of local) in Nullsec?

As of current mechanics it's pretty much impossible to catch any ratter who isn't taking a **** or making food away from the keyboard or something. This means null has literally no risk for anyone competent enough to stay near the computer while 'playing' or competent enough to have a third party program that makes a noise whenever someone enters local (extremely common and easy to find btw lol!)

Does CCP ever plan to address this issue?

Yes, it's called fly 40 people into a system, log off, then have them all log back in a few hours simultaneously.

Most of the people who do that won't appear in local. I heard Razor used that trick on Str8nge Brew recently.

We don't use exploits. The issue reported by the Str8nge Brew member in question is the same local chat issue reported by many other people in the past few days. We seem to have benefited from it at the expense of this unfortunate pilot (who enjoys farming anoms with 6 carriers at a time), but by no means was it done deliberately or knowingly.

guffaw

That was my response to hearing of the guy multiboxing 6 carriers in an anomaly.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Every time this topic comes up, once the trolling and rage dies down, sensible people show up and admit two things:

1. Removing local effects both sides of the equation for intruders and defenders the same say. It's an intel tool for both sides, and both sides lose it. An intruder does not know who, if any is in system instantly, and a defender does not know if someone arrived into the system and who it is (unless they are watching gates, etc).

2. Everybody agrees that once local is removed, there must be some improvement to the D-Scan mechanics or some changes to the game mechanics of scanning and detection of being scanned that eliminates the "press scan every 2 seconds" madness.

You can't remove local from null sec without completely changing how the game works in null sec. At that point, it's not null sec anymore. I used to be all for no local this, and no local that. But honestly, you have to be a total idiot to not see why just taking local away in null would be a bad thing .

If you want to experience not having local, move to wormhole. Some friends and I would love to show you how it works. Twisted

No trolling please
