Why would a Corp declare war on another corp and then never attack or even seem to be online most of the time. I have an alt in a corp that just had war declared. Its been a week now and they have done nothing. The most of them we have seen online at one time is 3. Seems like kinda waste of ISK to do that an then not attack. Ive counted 2 online at one time and most of the time its one. No one in the corp in question has even heard of other corp or the people in it. I assume they are looking for tears or some fights but so far its been a bit of a let down.

Did that corp have any POS structure left in space that they might want to blow up? If not the only thing I can think of would be to pad their 'war stats' that they have been in many wars.

In the 2 years I played, that happened 3 times to various Corps my main was in.

You are lucky in your case that they even undock, let's put it that way. One time it was a one man corp who never even logged on, but to renew the once.

In other words, your ridiculous experience is typical.

Between this and the flaws revealed with the attempted new War Dec changes, I'm wondering whether War decs are not yet another exploited mechganic that needs rethinking friom the ground up.

This sounds plausible but since Inferno and the formatting of the War Report you can now see all the kills and losses that were a part of that war. Any possible employer or recruiter of this corp would see that the past wars had almost no kills or losses from either side and see that they are full of hot air.

Not much of a combat resume if you ask me.

Sounds like a case of flying drunk. We've all been there: wake up, log in, and think "What? Why am I in the drone regions? Where's my hurricane? Why are we at war?.....whatever, was totally worth it."

The only real effects it seems to have had was that the whole corp put a lot of their corp on the watch list and that a there was more pvp fitting instead of pve. So I got to learn how use the watch list.

We've seen it where some basically lazy PvP corp decs then if it looks like you aren't going to freak out and roll over they just go dark. No idea what causes it.

This is also done with an alt corp so they can spot your industrials haulers and eventually missioners in pimpy stuff. Once they got your spots a couple guys is "suddenly" corped and goes for your missioner already spot and probed by an alt.

Yep, it's high sec elite pvp. Use the rules to pad lovely KB's of kills with no balls. And it's not even considered as an exploit.

Sometimes someone pays you to declare war on someone even though every member of your corp is too busy to play all week.

Sorry, couldn't attend the war-dec because I was murdering some terrible "musicians".

actually that mention of a POS is a good one, if you want a moon and it has a long since abandoned POS. wardec and explody is the only way.

Until a more viable solution is enacted like hacking the tower of a POS that is say over 2-3mths old and claiming it for yourself.(or should it be longer like 1yr?)

if in high sec you could outright claim and refuel if you had the faction, if you lacked faction it would unanchor and you could scoop it.

in low, null, wormholes it would just be fuel and go.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.

If you don't own a POS 'slot' that they want, then perhaps they're hoping you're a bit risk adverse, and that you'll convo them at some point (hoping to buy your way out of it), and thus get themselves some free ISK'ies...

If anything I'm slightly more mobile. Been exploring in cheap ship, ratting. Just trying to get some skills up and isk to start heading to low and null.

So you've changed your behavior. Before the dec, were you mining or doing something in an expensive ship?

I was kinda out looking for them. I know they were not located where I was normally ratting/missioning. I did find some systems that are not really that busy so I can salvage and rat unmolested. Low number of locals so they are easy to spot. I don't really have anything expensive. I have a drake but its so SLOOWWWWW. I usually tool around in a Dessi or Frig. i only use the Drake for 2 and 3 sec missions. I lack direction and am impatient. So I change what I am doing and don't want it to take long. I know how I want the drake to be fitted but cant quite cram the stuff in it yet. So I'm basically killing time and having fun.
