I have a class about leadership, one of the subject is people. Things like income, racial background, religion, cultures, etc.

Then I recall reading an article on a city somewhere in the south eastern area of US, after the hurricane katrina. An article on a divided city. By a single street. One side, beautiful, clean, rich looking side, people having good jobs. On the other side, a run down city, dirty, people not having jobs, and the interesting part, it was mainly black people in that neighborhood.

It really caught my eyes, and wanted to share it with my insutrctor and classmates, and to discuss about it while still on the same subject.

Been trying to search for it, but having tough luck since yesterday. I am hoping if you guys can help me assist to find the article. I can't remember if it was from CNN or NY times, or other online news article.

Not trying to be rude, but this isn't shocking news, I'm not even from the states but I know this to be the case, as do most I think. While it's not nice or anything, I don't think it would be a case study in which would be news to your instructor. Wasn't there a TV series on it also, maybe made by HBO. I want to call it Trine but that's a game :p

I'm not saying it as a "Shocking" news. I know its not the only one or anything. Not like its normal, but somethingg, uncommon, but not everybody is aware. From what I know from my class, not many are "aware" of what is going on or what is happening, like I do.

Note sure about the TV series, but to be honest, I don't watch much T.V.s... :s So I suppose I'm ignorant on that one! Oops

Sounds like you're describing...anywhere. There's always some arbitrary line in urban areas where excess gives way to poverty.

As African Americans are three times more likely to be poor in America (there are far more factors to that than I'd care to get into), they're going to be disproportionately represented in any such neighborhoods. In a place like New Orleans that have higher-than-average AA population the statistics go that direction even more.

OP: I have no idea where to find your divided city, but I do have some experience with the topic and I could provide some interesting stories of my own research. Sometimes it seems like the stereotypes are true but when you dig deeper you find that the stereotypes were made to be true by external parties.

I won't post info here because it will get trolled. But let me know and I could send you some material via evemail/eve-gate.

Cheers!
