CCP has been shockingly bad at game design since the beginning. It took years to get EVE to the point where it was actually playable to begin with. It's hardly unexpected that they'd fail at simple things like basic math when they never test anything, can't be bothered to fix the bugs that people point out and have legendary levels of unfounded overconfidence in everything they do.

I must admit at times I wonder why CCP hasn't gone out of business, then I see games like star trek online and remember that whilst CCP are pretty shockingly bad, theyre marginally less bad than that. Besides, their heart is in the right place.

CCP's one redeeming feature is that, whilst coming close at times, they have never yet given in to pay to win or theme park MMO rubbish. For me, this where every other space MMO fails.

Why was this edited? There was no rumour in there What?

It sounds like a rumour that there wasnt a rumour in this rumour.

I have always wondered whether the wierd percent calculation in this game are on purpose or if there is a basic math issue.

Take the resists, an item that improves your resist by 10% doesn't add 10%, instead it adds 10% of (100 - current resist).

The slider in the video settings is another like this, it is calculating based on the difference not the total which makes it total crap if you run dual monitors, 50% is not the center of one monitor, even if they are both idenitcal.

Who thinks this way, it is wierd, like brain wired backwards Big smile

A few things:

A games have F'ups in their patches and all players make fun of them in all games.

If we waited for the patches to be 99% correct we would wait 4x as long for the patches to come out

The patches get less scrutinty than the corporate world, medical fields and the military, since a screw up is only electronic pixels losses. No company goes out of business, no one dies and no wars are lost, Yet the higher rtisk - higher reviewed "real world apps" have bugs in them all the time.

I assume the communication between the Devs and the coding monkeys is not alwasy the best, "I said roll back the 10% reduction" , "I did" , "You increased by 10%", "Whatevs"

The games desingners keep the mistake of trying to give us a wonderful world into play and build sand castles, when all we want to do is break the game and get the biggest advantage over our fellow players that we can. They should be focusing on making it exploit proof, not fun since we as players are quite honestly morons.

NO model can match the self correcting mechanisms of the real world, so bugs can leap out of control.

Early Dev/Coders tend to be really inspired stars who really like math - they are building a new world, they put in sophisticated elegant math equations. Later maintance coders types not so much, they can keep it running, but they are not going to think through the implications of the formula you just gave them they are just going to code it.
