So I'm amassing some wealth through plexing but still don't know what ships I want to spend it on or what skills I should be training for them. I stated before that I don't really care for brawling. I'd much prefer to hit the enemy in ways they least expect it. That's why I kinda liked my little kiting Tormentor. I still don't know jack about ships or PvP but it seemed to be it's own bait.

I know I'm pretty limited with what I can fly in minor plexes although I'm hoping the next round of ship balancing adds some strange new options to my stable like the inquistor maybe, but what other ships could be fun to solo with outside of plexes or maybe in unrestricted ones?

I'm kind of interested in the Purifier, although I'm not really sure what a stealth bomber is capable of. Could it harass WTs in a gate camp and possibly snag a kill and get away? Are there any other viable sniper fits that can actually get kills? Thanks.

In most instances a stealth bomber will get eaten alive when used in solo PvP. There are some solo tactics/fits that can be used but I wouldn't recommend it until you get some more PvP under your belt.

You might want to consider some of the more conventional options like the rifter, punisher, incursus, and merlin, or even just using a destroyer early on, for a cheap yet effective way to learn the ropes of PvP.

Yes that's what I'm currently doing but I'm running out of "frigate" skills to train unless I want to train everything to 5. I'm wanting to branch out but have no idea where to go. I guess I could start working on my cruiser skills for the arbitrator. My drone skills are pretty decent but my ECM skills could use some work. Just really trying to get ideas for the future so I can decide what direction to go.

First figure out what size of ships you enjoy. If you enjoy frigate class and want to stay with smaller speed boats for pvp, then you will want to hit 5 on at least some of the relevant skills for the bonuses and the T2 variants. If you move up to destroyer all of the skills (other than maybe pilot) will be relevant still.

If you want to climb into a bigger ship (cruisers), then you are probably good at 4. The #1 thing I have found at these forums is, if you ask a question about 'what should I pilot next for pvp', you will get many conflicting answers, and most of them will be valid. It really comes down to what ship type fits your ACTUAL play style, as opposed to the style you LIKE. (ex: I love interceptors and speed tanking, but the simple fact is, I do much better in brawlers like the Rifter and Merlin. My son however gets dismantled in brawlers which is his favorite ship type, but wins 3/4 of his fights in Inties and speed boats like the Rifter).

Experiment with some of the cheap boats, and find the one that you actually seem to do well in naturally. That will help you figure out your style.

There is a fantastic blog that someone recommended to me, and has become my beginners bible so to speak. It may give you an idea on how to base your skill selection as you develop. Give it a read. ;)

Yeah that blog is what got me started playing EVE :). I will go back and re-read it now that I've actually been doing it myself. Some of it will probably make more sense to me now.
