So know that the Griefnerf is on effect, I though I should report my (unverified) method to circumventing the ally method.

As it is unverified, I am submitting it for consideration:

1) Corp A/Alliance A wardecs Corp B/Alliance B

2) Corp B/Alliance B owns, via alts, a shell Alliance C.

3) It recruits allies into this shell alliance, who leave their alliances to join Alliance C.

4)Alliance C joins war between Corp A/Alliance A and Corp B/Alliance B as ally, for free.

Since any number of corps can join the alliance, it can create a huge insta-shield, and even permawar the attacking corp.

That is all.

allies can't permawar the attacking corp (that is, they can't lock corp A into a mutual war). This isn't a shield because at no point can corp B avoid being attacked by corp A. Yes, the exponentially increasing ally fees can be circumvented by joining all the allies into one alliance. This is intended.

Are you sure this is intended? Because if it is, then what is the point of the fees? Almost every alliance CEO I know has a shell alliance hidden somewhere just in case directors get rowdy.

So if what you say its true, this is worse than what I thought it was...

Basically the wardec system wasn't well thought out. When it was proposed numerous people predicted pretty much exactly what would happen. CCP is never going to get the result they want until they implement so way for defenders to win a war, because right now as a defender there is no reason to fight. Either you drop corp, dock up, or head out to NS/WH/LS anything else tends to encourage the attacker to keep you deced. Until CCP is willing to put resources into the war system to create structures with reinforcement timers or something similar to provide a battleground. War decs are just going to be lame for the most part. The normal gate camping pipes, camping trade hubs, and station games which the major of eve players hate. Heck most pvpers I know hate high sec wars.

BOOM!

That is +1 true.

Which is what is so frustrating. As it stands, the system only works for consensual good natured "Good Fight" RvB style wars, or for protection rackets to prey on noob corps.

Inferno was supposed to fix this by bring in the mercs to a mechanic role rather than a player generated role. Yet it has failed miserably. While obvious forum alt is obvious, one of my toons is in a corp that got war dec at least once a month. I hasn't gotten a wardec since inferno 1.0 got released. That tells you something.

NO. This would be pointless in so many ways.

There should be some conditions by which one side "wins" though. Even if it's some outrageous goal, it should be possible. Corp A decs B and sets a loss threshold at 500B. If B does 500B worth of damage, it wins the war. There would have to be some cooldown timer to not allow A to wardec B again, or else it would just remain a permawar as you get now.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.
