I vaguely understand grid mechanics, but since the POS structure is right there I'm having a hard time understanding why it doesn't set the grid by default regardless of any tricks used to change the grid mechanics.

What do you mean, not a glitch? It may be useful, but it's still game mechanic weirding out.

The first time something odd happens in in the first few seconds. A ship, one that is targeted, 6 to 7 km away, just vanishes. It went over into another grid, and the eve grid manager should not be putting grid boundaries there.

Edit when watching I keep turning the playback off by trying to move the camera....
