Im curious to a weird tactic i keep seeing on the market.

I see people posting a mass amount of a specific at only .01 above the highest sell order
for instance you can sell the item at 111.02
and people have buy orders at 111.01

is this a tactic people use to drop the price after they have gone up so much over the weekend? Or are people just messing up putting up sell orders when trying to buy them?

Badly programed bots will get hurt by this.

Or. most likely, someone tried to sell more stuff to the top buy order than the buy order was set for. When this happens, a sell order is created for the old buy price.

ur second point makes perfect sense because my buy order was completely bought out then the rest must have been placed on the sell order.

I will have to keep a look out for these in the future for a easy gain. thanks

This is infact not a tactic, but an item at risk of crashing, the downwards pressure is is pushing down on the buy orders.

I usually ditch those items really fast and take my buy orders out of the way unless there are special circumstances involved.

This is the case, nothing to do with an item crashing. I've had it happen to my own orders. If I have a buy order up for 3 items and someone quick-sells 5, I get the 3 and the other 2 are listed as a sell order for the same amount as my buy order was. I love when that happens, you can snag a couple extra cheap units quickly. Smile

This is what happened. Nothing more, nothing less. If you're a trader, usually the smart thing to do is to buy the remainder.

At first this is exactly what i was going to do but the item was a type of Ammo that is very popular has yet to change prices that dramatically even on the weekend so i believe it was just a carry over from a selling to many units

If you just want to sell something, use simple sell, not advanced.
This will save you ISK, and you'r not in danger to put an unwanted sell order on the market.
