[Thrasher, Arty]
Tracking Enhancer II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

J5 Prototype Warp Disruptor I
'Hypnos' Multispectral ECM I
Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I

7x 280mm Howitzer Artillery II

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Projectile Locus Coordinator I
Small Projectile Collision Accelerator I

This is an experimental fit i've thrown together. I haven't tested it yet. Wanted some feedback beforehand. The goal is to stay out of range, shut down enemy tracking and just rain hell from afar. My concerns are mainly in the ECM as I've never really used them before (i haven't been playing very long). I want to ensure I can use the ECM while still within disrupting range. Cost isn't an issue. I just want to know if this fit will work and any comments, corrections, suggestions etc. will be greatly appreciated.

Targets: mainly Frigates and other Destroyers
Tactics: stay out of range and harass the enemy from a distance. Possible small-gang roaming (2-5)

You are better off with a web or tank in that mid slot instead of the ECM.

well the problem with the web is that i'll be out of range for it to be effectively used

You've been hanging out around Sasawong for too long. An ECM Thrasher is only going to be useful inside of a minor plex. I learned a long time ago that you're never going to be able to dicatate range vs. frigates, your natural prey, in a Thrasher. You simply have a sphere of death that you project. Most frigate battles are desperate affairs that last 30 seconds or less. By the time you realize you need to leave - it's too late. I stopped worrying about a point on an arty thrasher a long time ago. I get plenty of kills in mine...

These days it's more about range. You want to keep buffed AF at range for as long as possible. You want to keep AB frigates at range for as long as possible as well. My fit:

High:
280mm II x 7
Med:
Limited MWD
Tracking Computer II
Sensor Booster II
Low:
Gyro II x 2
Rigs:
Ancillary Current Router x 2
Projectile Collision

Short Range Faction - almost 2k alpha
Mid Range Faction - over 1.3k alpha.

It's a significant sphere of death that has served me well.

I have 2 fittings that serve me well and are used for different purposes. The first one is a cookie-cutter fitting useful for most situations from close to long range and solo:

[Thrasher, rvb]

Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II

Medium Shield Extender II
Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I
Faint Warp Disruptor I

250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
[empty high slot]

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I

The second one is my favourite but only usable in gangs as it has no tank, I use it for fast tackling and one- shotting the **** out of badly tanked frigs:

[Thrasher, instalock]

Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II

Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I
Faint Warp Disruptor I
Sensor Booster II, Scan Resolution Script

280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
[empty high slot]

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Targeting System Subcontroller I
Small Targeting System Subcontroller I

You can modify the second fitting by dropping the point and adding a tracking computer for example, or switch rigs for more locking range or speed if you want to make a dedicated sniper of it. You can basically do whatever you want, just don't fit ac's on this, you will waste 2 bonuses of this ship, optimal range and tracking are not needed with ac's. If you want to go close range, Catalyst is better at this.

Thanks for the advice. I understand that most fights will end quickly, especially if I'm taking on frigs. The plan was to have them go boom before they even got the chance to get close to even fire at me within effective range. But I might make some modifications //_^ definitely something to think about
