So I have been playing EVE on my laptop for a few months, and everything was running smoothly.

Then, yesterday, pressing the play button in the laucher would make my screen blink a few times, then freeze the whole computer.

I just get an image of my desktop and cannot do anything at all. Ctrl+alt+delete sends me to a completely black screen where only my mouse can be seen and move, and from there I can press Escape and it sends me back to the desktop, with a mouse I can see and move but I cannot click on anything.

The only solution being restarting the whole computer rather violently to be able to use it again.

I thought it was linked to my graphic card, and updated all the drivers, but nothig changed. I can still play games such as X3 AP, Skyrim, Crysis 2.....only EVE doesn't seem to work.

I have tried cleaning the cache, repairig the files and starting in Safe Mode, nothing seems to work.

I also restored my computer to a date when I was able to play, but that doesn't do the trick either.

Soooo all the help I can get is appreciated :) thank you all in advance!

I'm in the same boat. Thankfully it only affects my much better equipped laptop than desktop. Backwards I know, but funny. Being away from home is the not funny part as I simply cannot log in to the game.

After pressing Play in the launcher, the screen flashes three times then stays on the desktop and remains unresponsive to all user input, power button excluded. I can wait five minutes and it's the same thing. Tried disabling av/firewall, the dxsetup, bypassing launcher with the exe in bin, repair, clear caches... frustrating and tired of all the hard shutdowns.

A google search revealed this is a known and recurring issue. Seems a pretty fatal error if people cannot log in to play. Good luck with the diagnosis/resolution, ccp.

I've had no reply to my petition and nothing here, and my inability to play is slightly pissing me off I must say >>

Glad to know I'm not alone though!
