Yeah, those "rifts" are fun. There was a spot over the station in LR-2XT that behaved like that and things got really confusing if you flew through it.

Erm. Can you explain what happened in that video to the rest of us who have not experienced this? I looked through the video and didn't see anything weird.

I watched the video and am quite amazed. Definitely a space-time rift going there.
My question is - Do you ever manage to run into yourself ? If so, would that mean you have to pay for the same account twice ?
I think that POCO was a space-time decombobulating rift generator camflauged to look like a POCO. The CCP Dev were having a good laugh I bet, watching you on their consoles. Lol

All in all, interesting to see such holes in the game. Now if only there is some way to detect these things so that when a fleet hotdrops on me, I can escape. Big smile

o7 Thanks for the very interesting and humorous running commentary.

When you go through it, there's a chance you show up on your own overview and "F1-F8" on yourself.

I'm not quite sure I figured this out - can you maintain a target lock when you are on the other side of the rift, where the target is not ? Or do you lose target lock ?

Nope.

I can't remember exactly what the issue is, but I believe it's where 2 grids meet in relation to an object (like a Station). The duct tape that holds space together tore. So, if you were to watch a ship that's right next to you motor over to the "rift", they simply vanish. And if you follow, they "appear" while you'll vanish to anyone not on your new grid.

It's not that different then if you were motoring away from a station and when you get around 400m (or however far it is) from it, it vanishes. Drive back a few meters and it's there again.

[Insert appropriate religious explitive here] That has great potential in this game. Kirk and Spock would be amazed too, I wonder what the DEV's can tell us about this before someone makes stinking piles of ISK with the knowledge. Lol
It's Eve, anything is possible.

Ah, yes, and now I will share with you a story about that rift and it can relate to some of these latest EvE drama.

So, I was told about this particular spot while bookmarking some sniper spots around the station in my SB. I was lead there and it was demonstrated.

Now, I suppose if I were someone who enjoyed winning by abusing a mechanic that was "clearly wanted by the developers, otherwise why would it exist in the first place", I would have made use of this spot setting up my sniper BS a few meters away, allowing me to snipe, then when primaried, motor a few meters into the rift and vanish. Motor back, back to sniping away.

But, I somehow knew that if I did, I'd be abusing the mechanic. I didn't even need a dev blog to guide me in this moral dilemma. I used my own compass on this one.

This is why I'll never win EvE. Sad

Hehe, you might not win at Eve, but any game is not worth sacrificing your own moral compass. Good man.
Very interesting this, very interesting indeed. I'm going to check on Sisi if I can find such wonderful and special spacetime anomalies :) if they exist there, they should exist on TQ.

I am very curious as to whether or not the DEV's are aware of this and if so, when a fix can be implemented or alternatively, when it can be announced as a 'feature' (tongue-in-cheek).

LOL at "This is not a glitch, this is new content! It is alternate universes within the same one! "

Also at "it takes you all the way back to Tyranis!"

The three blue dots in a triangular pattern seem to be a doorway to another dimension. His buddy dissappeared just on the other side so he flew bravely towards it. When he passed the plane of the blue orbs, he was reunited with his buddies on the other side, 4 of them, in an exact replica of the universe he was just in, and then missiles were fired in celebration.

EDIT: Turns out the blue dots were drones. Damn you, youtube low resolution graphics.
