Rat Chaining - rare spawns possible?

Maybe not precisely the correct forum, but seems the closest.

I understand that destroying a few from a group of belt rats is a way to get the same type that was destroyed reappearing:
Belt has 2x 200k ISK BC + 1x 1.5M BS. Destroy the BS, leave the BC. Come back 20 mins later to get another 1.5M ISK BS spawning.

Are the replacement spawns always the same as the original? Is there a chance that a faction or officer (with the same size ship) appears instead?

There probably is a chance, but it is probably a reduced one.

As i understand it. You Chain, getting a higher reward BS and a tougher one, Or you clear the belt increasing the chance of a officer spawning.

The lower the sec the better the chance of an officer spawn as well.

Rat spawning was changed not too long ago. From what I read, chaining was no longer possible.

That sucks. I used to make a bit of ISK ratting when I lived in nullsec.

Thanks for that, exactly what I was looking for.

Guess we just pick out the efficient stuff, leave the junk, come back later and hope.
