Is the Eris a viable interdictor alternative to the Sabre especially after the null buff? I'm not looking to use it as a combat vessel but purely as a way to bubble hostiles and any damage I get on top of the fleet is icing on the cake. I just don't want to have to train for Minnie Frigate 5 if I can avoid it.

It does seem weird that the Eris gets a bonus to missles and rockets considering it's a blaster boat.

The Sabre is still by far the best interdictor. Just train Minmatar Frigate V. It's only a week or so and it's a great skill. You won't ever regret training it.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

If you're using it purely to bubble then you don't care what weapons are fitted anyway as the bubble alone now ensures that you get on the killmail.

For gang/fleet fights your priorities are bubbling and staying alive - not dps - so your fits should have decent tank and speed and ideally dual bubbles and cloak. The Eris is hardest to fit for the above which makes it the worst of the dictors for bubbling but it still does the job.

Dictor piloting is quite possibly the hardest job in a fleet. It takes skill and judgement to bubble the enemy and GTFO alive as you will always be primaried. Even good pilots tend to lose their ship well before the end of the fight so you usually go home in a pod.

People therefore tend to specialise in flying them and if you're going to specialise in something you want to be able to fly the best and also have plenty of options/choices. Also as you die a lot, the cost of replacing ships can be an issue.

The Sabre is expensive compared to the others so it's rarely used in fleet combat and instead tends to be "reserved" for solo/small gang where it's superior tank+gank can make a difference.

You can definitely be useful in an Eris so if you just want to "try" out dictors then it's fine but keep flying them for long enough and eventually you will want the Sabre - it's the best of the lot.

Both the Flycatcher and the Heretic are able to fit dual bubbles+cloak+tank more easily than the Eris so if you already have Caldari/Amarr Frig 5 I'd use them instead. The Eris really is the worst of the lot.

Having said that, Mini Frig 5 doesn't take that long to train and it gives you a ship which is also awesome for solo pvp (the others mostly suck at it) so if you decide that you like flying dictors then it's a must.

Roden Shipyards: Unlike most Gallente ship manufacturers, Roden Shipyards tend to favor missiles over drones and their ships generally possess stronger armor. Their electronics capacity, however, tends to be weaker than that of their competitors’.

THE wierd thing is that there IS NOT a Caldari corp that dose drones, I mean if you go way back there all the same federation so having common roots is kinda given.

I wanted to paint my space ship red, but I couldn't find enough goats.

Thrasher and Sabre are just so much better than the other Destroyer hulls it's not funny.

Other than what has been said (I'm going to train Min Frig 5 soon) any suggestions on how to fit an Eris? The fits I've found all seem kinda weak. Should be obvious given that the sabre is the way to go but I'm trying to see if I can fly an Eris as a solo/small gang ship to kill SB's and other cloak frigate scouts mainly.

Basically, looking at blasters, a sphere launcher, mwd...scram? Other slots I'm debating but not having much luck fitting the CPU. Appreciate any comments for a fit.

Are you actually planning to fight with it?

Between the split weapons, split bonus, and slot layout, Eris is made of pure fail. Do yourself a favor and get a Sabre instead.

If you want rockets, 2 of the 3 other interdictors are missileboats. Flycatcher has slot layout problems. Look into Heretic. It's no Sabre, but still workable.
