New Toon - Old Player (Advice Needed)

Hi

I used to play Eve along time ago for quite some time, managed to get myself into a stable corp in 0.0 and making ISK wasn't a problem but I have recently started again from scratch and a lot has changed since the last time I stepped foot into the wonders of Eve.

The one thing I have noticed is the amount of players that now play Eve. I remember the days when you log on and the players online were >10,000 at any given time, now there seems to be 4x that which would make me assume that low/null sec would be infested with nasty red, flashing people with big cannons pointed at the gate.

What i'm really asking is... As a new toon, what would be the best path to train for making reasonable ISK without travelling into low/null sec? (At least until I have enough SP to join the ranks of another capable corp)

As a person myself, I see myself as more of a PvP/Combat character. Pirate I would like to play with the Caldari race this time round as I was previously Amarr and with the new missile graphics, I just cant help but swerve to the ways of missle spam!

I never really touched agent missions in the past and I wouldn't mind swaying away from the dark side and being 1% carebear for a while.

Is there a way in high sec where you can be self-sufficient without mining? e.g. Make enough ISK within a month to pay for subscription plus other consumables (missiles mainly)

To give you a little more information about this toon, I have included my character sheet - Azushee

Sorry for my wall of text but thank you fellow pilots in advance!

Fastest path to hi sec money is exploration. It's a bit random, but it can be done in a frigate and you can have most of the basic skills to 3 or 4 in a week or so. Since you want to fly caldari ships the tengu should be a mid-term goal. For pvp you'll probably end up flying a drake. Missions are safe and steady money, but it'll take a while to grind them up to L3s or L4s.

IDK if you'll be able to buy a plex in one month. If you go high sec exploration, you could get it in a week, or you could get there in a few months.

I like the sound of Exploration, what does that involve exactly? not courier I hope Blink

I have also heard a lot about the Tengu, I will have to look into it and check some vids! I need to get back into the swing of things it seems. Lol

Exploration involves use of probes (module not ship) and being willing to move around a bit

A freind of mine uses a Orca as a portable Exploration platform since he can drag it around with a lot of his gear and a couple of ships

Never mind him, the probe is an exploration ship that you can use if you are a minny. I'd choose imicus though if only for the firepower of the 3 drones.

if you are immune to the inherent brain hemorrhage of .01 ISK wars, station trading is the fastest way to get rich. if you prefer actually leaving the station, my advice would be to try exploration until you can fly a decent drake, then quickly farm up a 3.0 standing with a decent caldari corp and start running lvl3 missions.
chances are, you can also make money with faction warfare but i have no experience there, so you will have to ask in the warfare forum or google it.

I should buy an Ishtar.
