((OOC: there is a fire in my city and so I have decided that instead of perhaps postponing this article if I am ordered to evacuate which may be for some time, I will just post it now. Also when I return, if asked to leave, I plan on making the "broadcast bi-weekly, every Monday and Friday.))

The Rising Star of Matar

His name is Petrud Hule'sun, and many are referring to him as the Rising Star of Matar. Hule'sun, a Sebiestor, has become perhaps one of the most influential members of that political party since Karin Midular. A former Valklear Commander, Hule'sun was elected to office last January as the Senator of Gelfiven on political promises to reject or work to repeal several controversial Shakorite policies such as Unionized Education reforms, Increasing the National Debt to the Gallente Federation and the extension of the Posterity Rebate System.
Hule'sun states that his reasoning for opposition to these policies is that when educators are "granted tenure they become complacent in their duties and that if a person knows that they can be fired, they also know that they have to work hard to keep their jobs. Unionized Education simply serves to make bad teachers worse and to make good teachers lax in their duties."

On increasing the National Debt he had this to say. "To long have we watched as Matar becomes poorer due to increasing debt to the Federation. Most Matar house-holds are in some way subsidized by the government in the way of food stamps, Republic Bonds or some other form of welfare, the entirety of which is paid for by money borrowed from the Federation based on domestic currency which loses .2% of its value annually. The mentality of our people has become that of a nation of beggars and do nothings when we have, just like every other nation, the means to support ourselves domestically, our government simply lacks the desire to tell you that you have the means to stand on your own two feet."

When questioned about his stance on Posterity Rebates Senator Hule'sun had this to say, "Posterity Rebates started as a means to ensure our people that at a certain age, reguardless of what you were able to save up by your own merit, the goverment would ensure that you had the means to retire. This may have been a good thing if not for the fact that the age has decreased from sixty five years of age to fourty five while the rebate itself as increased from 25% of tax revenues collectedover the course of your working life to 39%. What this means is that people are cashing in earlier, thus paying in less while cashing out more and for longer then ever before. This policy of national spending and borrowing against ever decreasing tax revenues is guiding our nation to an economic disaster and assuring that our children and grandchildren become the welfare state of New Eden."

When asked if he had plans to run against Maleatu Shakor, he answered "I have served my Nation for fifteen years as a Valklear and thus far five years in the public arena, I am weighting all my options on how I can continue to do so in the future."

There are many in the Republic who question not only the legitimacy of Hule'sun's political stances, but also if a former Valklear even has any business in government. The Speaker for the Shakorite Government had this to say,"These polices which the Senator is attacking are the Matari peoples safeguard against unemployment which is so rampant in our nation, old age and a lack of good education. To break with these policy's would mean the end of the entire economic system in place within our boarders on a gamble that we could suddenly stand alone in a universe rife with wars and economic uncertanty that even the Federation is having a hard time weathering."

In Gelfiven however, where all of these polices have now been rejected, there is an upsurge in employment, increased tax revenues and financial analysts are projecting that by YC116-1-1 the system itself will have reduced its debt from thirty six trillion ISK to eight trillion where as Rens will have gone from a fifty billion ISK surplus of eight billion isk deficit. It is to soon to say if this trend is due to Senator Hule'sun's initiatives or rather, as the Speaker has said "the simple ebb and flow of economic patterns in a free market economy."

Escape from Black Dalphine prison facility.

Many may not know of Black Dalphine, it is a secretive Republic prison where the worst of the worst are sent. There is no redemption at Black Dalphine, no chance of parole, no option to join the Valklears and no record of who has been sent there once they are there, you simply cease to exist. Terrorists, murderers, cannibals and all manner of vile creatures dwell in its halls, halls that were designed to offer no escape save for the final one.

No one knows exactly where Black Dalphine is located though we assume from various notations of it in Republic record that it is either a specially refitted Nyx carrier or guarded by one and that it is located in some sort of cosmic event that event that would destroy all but a capital ship, yet for all these alleged safe guards, the Republic Prison Board now is reporting that there was a prison break.

"We cannot confirm who has escaped, nor how this happened,but we are now prepared to confirm that Black Dalphine is empty," Blade Commander Krushal Vernus of the Republic Prison Board announced.

This confirmation comes on the heels of reports that several Arkombine vessels have been stopped trying to enter Jovian space with passengers who "disappeared" within the Republic Prison system. For those unaware of Arkombine, they are a Mercenary group alleged to be experimenting with "Immortal Soldier" technology stolen or obtained from the Amarr. The Amarr first fielded this technology on Pikes Landing in the Amamake system. The Theology Council has since announced the the Empire has ended the experiment, stating that it is "not a viable option at this time due to technological restraints."

If Arkombine is planning on using prisoners from Black Dalphine as Immortal Soldiers, and this reporter will be the first to state that there is no hard evidence to support this, then this is not only a black day for all of the Republic, but also for all of New Eden as it means that our adherence to a system that does not allow for the death penalty has allowed some of the most vile creatures of our generation to become immortal and continue their sick designs for all time.

Final Thoughts

It is true that we as Matar face many obstacles, be it the War with Amarr, dangers from unknown enemies creating super weapons in our midst's but one thing is certain, so long as we have people trying to make our world, our nation, our Tribes a better place we have hope.
