Rommie, you do know that you already posted this (almost) exact same rant in this very thread a mere two days ago, right?

LOLOLOL.... where did this quality assurance department suddenly come from ?

I somehow fail to see signs of them learning from their mistakes is a bad thing or something worthy of ridicule.

Everyone thought that they had learned from the Incarna fiasco. Then it was clear that they had not.

So, learning from mistakes is something that CCP does not do very well.

Well-stated.

Here we are one year later and we have CCP employees still letting their own egos and pet project priorities supercede legitimate, well thought out customer feedback and concerns.

When a significant minority of long-term and very intensive use customers put forth serious time and effort to provide feedback on both design and execution defects and are, in essence, ignored (original feature / code pushed from Sisi to Tranq with Inferno 1.0) what are we supposed to think?

Now, we have watched CCP Soundwaffe [falsely] cater to every wishlist EVE forum posters can think of regarding the Inventory UI only to find out that CCP is less dedicated to getting this project back on course than was initially communicated (6 months of iteration??!!??). And we have no clear scope of the project. How is this feature supposed to work? What is up with the non-standard use of shift-click / double-click, etc. and numerous shortcuts where we used to have two actions: right-click and double-click? Furthermore, what professional project manager promises to do whatever it takes to make their customers happy? That is, in no way, being truthful to either the customers or CCP's internal human resources.

We have watched CCP Optimal take forum poster comments personnally and / or attempt to micro-manage users' concerns when, in truth, it is the overall user experience and design which is flawed (in addition to bugs, inconsistent behaviors and poor client-server response). On positive note, we may have a clearer picture on how CCP's QA personnel and processes integrate in with CCP's projects via a future dev blog.

Lastly, we are watching CCP RubberBAND go through the same motions as CCP Optimal in attempting to solve the detail questions and issues that have already been addressed -- in great depth -- in the official Inventory UI forum thread. It is as if he was brought onto the project w/o even having been brought up-to-speed and clearly had not read through customer feedback.

This is neither good customer relationship management nor good project management.

Where do we go from here?

The way to fix most of the issues is REALLY REALLY simple:

1. Bring back the buttons for Ships, Items, Corp hanger. Make these open in a separate windows with tree view minimised as default, and remember the position.

2. Bring back the right click options on ships for opening drone bay, cargo bay, ore hold, ship maintenance bay, fuel bay, corp hanger. Make these open in a separate windows with tree view minimised as default, and remember the position. It is REALLY not a bad thing to have right click options that improve functionality. Remove the redundant ones, like undock etc.

3. When in space, make the cargo icon open the cargo bay only (Cargo icon = cargo bay << simple). Make this open in a separate window with tree view minimised as default, and remember the position. If we want the inventory, we can use the icon in the Neocom, that’s what it is for (Inventory icon = inventory << again simple)

4. Give the option to hide the ISK value. It takes up space and is a gimmick that is only used rarely. Better still provide a button that will calculate this amount if needed.

5. Reduce the size of the volume bar in containers back to what it used to be, it is too big and takes up space.

These are very simple fixes, which would go a long way to reducing the disgust and contempt people have for CCP at the moment, I cannot believe that they would be difficult to implement. So, please put your ego’s away and just do it.

Who the hell came up with this primary and secondary window idea ? For the love of God please wise up and just do what is necessary to make this somewhere near useable and not come up with these half assed ideas.

Was there a tremendous need for you to post this twice?

And if CCP does decide to get rid of the "secondary windows" - the only shred of decency left from the original inventory system - I can absolutely assure you beyond any shadow of a doubt that I WILL quit playing this game.

But I applaud the (counts on one hand) 4 people who've posted in these 6 pages about how "Oh you guys are stupid I love the new UI! *heart heart kissy kiss* CCP you taste so yummy!"

The new UI is CRAP - it has always BEEN crap, it will always BE crap, and just because you're a Mr. Hankey fan doesn't mean the rest of us are going to suddenly change our minds.

I've asked nicely in the past, but seeing as you guys just hit my credit card again, nice time is over. GIVE US WHAT WE WANT - SCRAP THE UNIFIED INVENTORY.
