new mining technique (interactive)

i've been mulling around a different (but seperate from current style) way to get ur ore from them pesky roids which could invigorate via interactivity instead of staring at ur cargo periodically while reading a book/watching a movie.

using my graphical prowess with my locally available artistic software BEHOLD;
THE THRESHER DRONE APARATUS

while u marvel at my majestic diagram let me also whip out;
THE UNIQUE THRESHER CONTROL PANEL

while u control the power n feed (doesn't have to b slider bars but good enough for a basic example) u gotta keep an eye on the torque n freewheel which both may fluctuate while ur burrowing into said roid.

high torque guarantees a larger quantity of ore intake

freewheel is caused by too much power and not enough feed(which may cause ur snazzy thresher to wobble or even cavitate uncontrollably)

too much torque(too much feed not enough power) or too much freewheel may damage ur precious thresher

that is an interesting idea. Would be something for ring mining . as it is supposd to be a different style of mining .
Probably the would have one person controliing the laser, Thasher of doom and have other people gathering the loot.

Though ccp has mention that current mining of mindless ly shooting asteriods will be the same.


Person A
Using Scanning to fine the belt,
Person B Finds the Vaine in the belt of the ore
Person C Starts the Mining Process crushing the roid, with thrasher drone, Missiles, Lazers, artillery, etc Modified Bombardment ship
Person D is in a collection vessels like Gas harvesting is done (Close range may have to move around abit. for so collect the Material from the dust cloud meess person C is making. And Jet can the ore for pick up by Hauler class ship. to be taken to the processing plant (POS) or ship
Person F is in a Rorqual Boosting and Compressing the Ore to be Jumped out latter

The mining process is explosive so Harden ships are required.
Rates in this area are "NASTY" with upgraded UI because this stuff is Valueable requiring combat ships to be not only on belt but also on call for PC Roams and The odd Blob NPC encounter.

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

i'm surprised more mining peeps haven't jumped on the general idea of (while leaving the current mining system intact) a new way to increase the efficiency of current mining whilst actually participating while boring into them placid pixels

because multi boxing hulks (and other logistics) takes some attention if you arent botting.

all other activities while mining, (reading, forum posting, watching tv or movies, anything else, i do housework, cook etc.) can no longer be possible while mining. the long cycle times of solo or near solo mining is very boring but workable if you have another activity.

much of the anti-bot spam that goes on in eve is from people used to missions or pvp where the action takes place very quickly. in mining its not so much, so response times are understandably slower then for jumping into a gatecamp. asking for ways to meta game mining will mean it gets further restricted to bots as as the semi active real people leave it in favor of other activities entirely.

in the above example, what you will see is t3 scanners and ore sniffers (roles a and b) followed by several drakes and a boosting orca. nothing which enriches the mining experience at all or seems to be dependent on mining ships themselves.

For something which people are presumably going to have to do for many hours, say , to build a carrier or dread, orca or freighter, or hell even a battleship, this idea makes it that much more annoying logistically to do. Im not sure what kind of reward you could put to move miners away from belts or grav sites in hi/null to make it worthwhile without breaking some other part of the game.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.
