I have decided I finally have enough time to play EVE. I played the trial a few months back and loved it. I plan to go mostly combat and primarily be a Mission Runner. I am looking to see what the best race, attributes and skills I should set up in order to optimize my character for what I plan to do. Any help is appreciated if anyone knows a guide or any skill trees to look at i'd be happy if you let me know thanks,

Caldari is the best 'mission' race. But Most pilots will put them last as a PvP race. I'm not going to recomend race here, They all have strong points.

Pick what you will and work your way up in agent levels. Experience and time will be your best teachers.

Look for a corp to join if possible. Like minded pilots for missions, or whatever. If you don't like them, look for another corp. Eve is a social game and more fun in general with more ppl.

I just have one more question and didn't want to make a new post. For my first remap what attributes are most suited for combat/mission running. Also what are the initial skills that I should focus on I heard there was program that could set you up with a plan depending on your career choice but I can't remeber the name.

If you are a very new character, you will want a generic type of attribute allocation.
Minimum attributes in Charisma for now.
A little strong in Perception and Intel.
A little less in Willpower and Memory.

I am def NOT the expert in this field. I just know a new player needs a lot of mixed training. So NO hardline mapping.

EVEMON is a skilling program. Google it. DL it. It is awesome app for this game. A link is actually in this skill forum somewhere.
There are also some remap threads here as well. I remember them as being well thought out and good advice.

Read post Number four for an excellent generalist remap.

RavenPain is right.

get some basic skills to an aceptable level first.

Should be in those guids as well, when you open your character sheet there is a tab called certificates, when you open that you see a tab certificate planner, take a look at you core certificates, those should be at standaard, as well as you main weapon system support certificae, and your main deffence certificate before you start remapping to a specialised set up.

The Certificates are a guide line not at all written in stone but untill standard it can't hurt to follow it.

First pick your race, check eve kill for some ideas of ships etc and go from there.
Download evemon and eft or evehq
Pick if you are going to armor tank or shield tank
Missiles or guns
Pick a frig with the combo you like drop in skillplan
pick a cruiser drop on skill plan.
Click on optimize skill plan and remap for that plan.
train cybernetics to 3, put clone in safe place with +3 implants. Jump to it when you are going to be away from game for awaile
Stick to the plan as much as possible.

Whilst you're doing the research to pick your ship, and therefore your skills, you can do no wrong by training the following to level V, as regardless of ship choice you will need them: Engineering, Weapons Upgrades, Hull Upgrades, Mechanic, Electronics, Navigation, Drones.
