No that is perfectly fine in a sandbox game.

Non Linear, Free Roam. = Sandbox.

Anything else is personal opinion on how the game should be run but it doesn't make it anti sandbox.

Not to date and there likely won't be until Monday at the earliest. The assets were frozen for the purpose of investigating. Not just seized, "just because".

Its in masterspergguy's rules to make at least 1 whine thread a day in GD, otherwise he can't sleep at night. Im starting to like goons just for the fact that they don't like you :)

There's conflicting information, but as far as I understand it, currently CCP has not only seized the result of the Jewball but also started siezing other assets that were unrelated. Which means not only did they violate the sandbox in order to stop something that was done legitimately through in game mechanics (a big no no), but also directly punished the Goon Economics team that, through the goodness of their own hearts, showed CCP exactly why this was such a poorly designed change and why it had to be rolled back immediately.

Consider the alternative: Months and years of people doing this on a small scale, causing untold amounts of damage to the EVE economy in the process.

Gotta love when the goons screw something up, they tear up the most. Keep em coming..

We're not going to see one for a good while. The Goon Economics Team have put CCP in a really awkward position: Simply put, the Goons involved didn't do anything wrong. In fact, by contacting CCP with all the data, they did, technically speaking, the right thing.

It bears repeating, as the buttmad sockpuppets from NPC corps are hooting like overly constipated chimps: This was no exploit, it was simply poorly thought out game mechanics that the Goons involved used to their advantage. In addition, none of this was "created from thin air" (which is the traditional yardstick for exploitation) -- all the involved resources were converted directly using a specific game mechanic and involved player vs player monetary exchanges.

So while CCP no doubt want to roll back the economy, nuke the wallets from orbit, etc... that really doesn't fit with the old CCP's corporate philosophy.

Now, NewCCP, the CCP that seems to be ran by the Marketing department... well, that's a different story. We don't know how they're going to react. It should be interesting to find out, however.

I'm also kinda wondering what Mittani's reaction to all this is. He hasn't spoken up on it.
