Hey,

hopefully this is the right part of the forum to type in.
I thinking of updating my graphic card by buying a new one.
Atm I have a ATI HD4650 1GB.
And I'm not sure what to buy next?
I don't expect to go for the best on the market, but hopefully someone that won't cost more than 200 dollars.
Any ideas?
I also play other games that requires a good graphic card (Armed Assault 2, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier etc.)

This is a good option.

However if you want really cheap, anything a couple of years old (that doesn't have massive issues) is fine.

I use an old 450GS (which for some reason is now reported as a GTS in the driver info) and can play most games fine. Just can't always go with full AA and Aniosotrophic.

note: don't do radion so no clue how it compares

I used to be a massive ATI (now AMD) fanboy, but their drivers are utterly terrible. I've now been converted to NVIDIA.
also, to whoever it was that linked the 7970, are you aware that the NVIDIA 670 (their low end enthusiast card) pretty much matches it overall? and that's for about $200 CAD cheaper.
EDIT: and I should note, whatever you do end up getting, check out MSI and asus first, they are well known for having good quality.
as to your question. I use the 560TI, it works well for 2 clients on pretty high settings with almost no noticeable stuttering other than when both clients happen to be changing session at once or something. I'd imagine the 560 or 550 could handle a single client very nicely, and since the 600 series is coming out now, the prices on the 500 series cards are dropping pretty quick.

Toms Hardware has always been a good source on current hardware information. If you follow this link: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-4.html

Toms lists the best choices for $160-$270 range.

HD6870 @ $172
GTX 560 @ $179
GTX 560ti @ $229
HD7850 @ $249

Of course prices vary. I have 2 rigs I run eve on right now. One has an HD6850 Black Edition, and the other a 560ti. I run two clients on each, with graphics set on high, and I can't tell the difference... I paid $150 for my 6850 and $200 for my 560ti.

You could pick up a 6870.

Video cards are a funny thing, I used to love Nvidia and went through three cards, but then I had really bad issues with my last Nvidia card and switched to a 4870 when it was new, then a 5870 and now a 7970.
Never, ever had a issue from my XFX cards.

As many others have already said, Nvidia 500 series. They're cheap enough now and they rock.

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

Don't forget to check the specs of your power supply first.

Indeed, some manufacturers just aren't as good as others. I build a lot of computers for myself, my kids, or clients and use both AMD and Nvidia depending on a lot of different factors. One thing I tend to stick too is certain brands that I have had the most success with. For AMD i stick with XFX, and for Nvidia I use EVGA. Both brands offer excellent warranties and service.

Thanks for the AWESOME replies!

Still a bit confused.
I've looked at

MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II - 1 Gb GDDR5 - PCI-Express 2.0

SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY Radeon HD 6950 OC - 2 GB GDDR5 - PCI-Express 2.1

Which is best?

Im having a hard time figuring it out :/

I've found that NVIDIA cards tend to be a little better, even when compared with ATI cards of a similar tier. Probably because of the drivers.

I use a GTX 560 and it runs everything perfectly, maxed out, at 1080p.

Well just from reading the tech help section, I find ATI cards have a lot more issues with EVE than Nvidia cards do.
So if you like to have issues and workarounds then get an ATI card.
If you want an error free plug and play experience then get a Nvidia card.
But some of the newest Nvidias also have problems.
So get one a bit older seems to be the trick.

If I were to choose between those two cards I would likely lean towards the 560ti. The twin frozr is a really nice system and helps out with the cooling nicely. If you use your captains quarters, your card will need the extra cooling! Even if you don't, the cooler your card stays, the longer it will last. Performance wise, those cards are very close to each other in the benchmarks.

Your orginal card by the looks of it had NO external power leads.
The ones you listed do and use ALOT more power than your current card.
They also put out ALOT more heat.

Make real sure your system can hand these cards before you commit to either one.

Research research research ...

And as far as which one is better nobody is going to agree.

Give up **** for a month a get either a 7970 or a 670.

They are both a steal with those levels of performance, and if you want a bar chart, look no further than here
