We have a female gamer in our corp. At least, one that I know of, there may be more.

She's pretty cool. I frankly wouldn't have known had I not heard her on TS. Well, her incredibly cheery disposition can also be kind of a giveaway.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

The misogyny is strong in this thread.

Yup.

Have to say the overwhelming testosterone drippiness in this game is good for a laugh. As this thread proves.

Player Gender/Military Confirmation Test, Question 1 (of 1)

Q. Fill in the blank. "That ____ over there is named Jane. She is a ____ gamer."

a. female, female
b. woman, woman
c. woman, female

--

If A is selected, the respondent is a male veteran. If B is selected, the respondent is female. If C is selected, the respondent is male.

Hmm, I responded d. person, [insert space].

The result being "That person over there is named Jane. She is a gamer."

What does that make me?What?

Quite sure this can be applied on both sides Blink

But then we should start talking about statistics and figure out we're in 2012 and tendency is reverse, yep more lone chicks than guys, looks like a fake but seems true.

Believe me, I almost know what I'm talking about Lol

I am a female whose been playing the game since 2004. Don't listen to the trolls; no one is going to send you money. Chribba's is the best advice here.

There are a few real men who play. . though most of those do not play as much as I would like them to... (my husband is one.. been trying to get him back into the game for years now lol).

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

Are there any other chick-in-real-life players out there? I hear this game is mostly dudes.

EVE is a sausage fest.

But if you're into role-playing, there's a ton of space lesbians.

I think a guy probably made that test. A dumb one. The first part - "woman" - is fine. But why would anyone follow "That woman" with "She is a woman/female"? Her gender is already established. And if I were to say anything, I'd say girl gamer.

I selected C and am not male. Woman and man are primarily nouns. Male and female are primarily adjectives. That's how I generally use them.

There are political and cultural implications to the words as well, and if I'm speaking specifically about issues of gender and identity, I might omit the word 'female' from use because people, primarily feminists, tend to view it as dehumanizing. But that's an exception based on specific audience.

I'm not sure... I'm a girl/female/woman and I didn't know the "correct" answer P

"That person over there is named Jane. She is a kick-ass gamer."
