I have absolutely no clue as to what happened in Inferno regarding war decs, but for some reason I believed that corps could no longer transfer wars to alliances. Imagine my surprise when this just happened.

Anyone mind explaining what the changes were? I can't find any patchnotes for the first Inferno release anywhere - just crud about 1.1

Think you are missunderstanding what a dec shield is/was. It was a method of bloating wardec fees by haveing a number of "friendly" corps declare war on you, which then drove up the costs for the people who wanted to declare war on the target. Most well known example would probably be that of ivy league (eve uni alliance), which required billions of isk per week to keep a war going against, which combined with their prefered method of wageing war, discouraged "casual" war decs.

Another change that was implimented was if a corp leaves an alliance at war, the war carries over with them, allong with a fresh 7 day timer, which means that joining an alliance to shed a wardec is no longer possible.
