I know, I'm not really a girl, etc... Whatever. I am. I don't care to prove it to you. (How would I really accomplish that, anyway?)

/shrug

Are there any other chick-in-real-life players out there? I hear this game is mostly dudes.

The alternative was paying them $70 myself, so pass?

I'll give you a bit of advice after hearing the experiences of female players in Eve online; Don't let it be known you are one.

You welcome.

The female players I know in EVE could crush me and everyone I know and love through sheer economic force alone if I crossed them. >.>

Congratulations you did the first step to become spacerich. Now all you have to do is wait for stalkers to send you hundreds of billions for no reason whatsoever. If ya wanna speed this process up a little you could create lets say a blog or a videochannel.

Just in case this is serious, all you have to do ingame is join corps and talk to people. Should be rather easy to tell apart a femal voice from a male one, even though there is a fair chance of some dude using software to immitate a female voice to get certain 'advantages'.

There is a group called Women Gamers of Eve (WGoE) who have a community around this. Their public channel in game is "WGoE=public", and I'm pretty sure they have a private channel for "confirmed" women.

This is kind of a thing I don't get. I'm a female gamer myself, but I have never had intentions in demanding special treatment because I'm a woman. Sure, on my second day on EVE I got a small donation from a corpmate who heard me speaking in comms, but it made me feel rather difficult. Perhaps he gave that ISK because I was a newbie, who knows.

If I wanted to become known, liked, respected or whatever in the game, among my corpmates, alliance or coalition, I want to achieve it through what I do in the game and how I act. Not because of my gender.

There are many woman players in EVE.

What happens is that they usually don't go around saying it, because that would make them feel discriminated or treated specially. Most of the time, you can only detect them when they speak through voice comms.

They're not a rare sight, in our corporation 20% of members are confirmed gamer chicks ;)

Girls are getting hardcore day by day, so they join EVE, not WoW/SWTOR/[insert childish MMO here]. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Well I'm sure one could write several books about this topic. I guess it has to do with how we grow up and how genes dictate us to behave. The rarity of woman may also play a role. Keep in mind there are many different age groups playing, aswell as people from culturaly completely different parts of earth, some in which women in positions of authority are still something unusual or even inacceptable. Lonely, pervert and especially young persons will try to impress in many different ways, one of them is isk. Some women choose to abuse this behaviour and others just seem to love the attention they get.

I guess becoming known in EVE is easier for a woman, but truly respected and/or feared may just be as hard if not harder as it is for a man. However all this is just my humble opinion and may be very biased.
