I too need to have my missiles effects off or my fps goes from a steady 60-65 fps to 10-12 ! nvidia 9500 gt quad cuore or whatever, 4gb ram and the graphic card is like 2 gb or so ..I dont understan much about computers but this one seems to run EVE very decently untill the new missiles effects got in

So, this is not a simple ATI probem.

Hi!

We know about this issue, but we are still investigating our options for fixing / improving it. The issue is present on Tranquility, but it is indeed more pronounced now on Singularity with Inferno 1.1 (at least on some cards).

Workaround: Disable GPU particles in the settings menu.

Disable GPU particles in the settings menu just a cosmetic fix, not resolve the real problem.
And what about the FPS drop when someone turning camera towards the sun ? And what about with space dusts in mission or anomalies ?

Brilliant answer, honestly.
From noticeable FPS drop on TQ it goes to insane fps drop on SISI, and best advice is to disable GPU particles.
How about finding whats wrong and making it work, or at least rollback to TQ missiles setting that didnt make it unplayable. All that was added were small flares on missiles and it screwed things up.

A little smoke trail from a missile having this much of a hit on performance makes you wonder what the hell is in that bit of smoke. New smoke tech?

Space dust is a known problem, if they fix it like they fixed missiles i might as well stop playing. Guess i was stupid to extend my 2 acc playtime hoping against usual CCP MO that something gets fixed.

This is being worked on this and we hope to regain at least the performance loss compared to TQ. I'll post more info as soon as we know more.

It is a brilliant answer, stop being a tard he said they are working to find what is causing it, and to fix it. As the GPU particles is a new feature the fact that you have to disable it isn't like its some huge change from the past lol, just disable the gpu particles for a while till the source of the issue is found.

I have a fix :) increase missile velocity by 100% on all ships (that means ships that already have speed bonus, gets additional speed)... once this is done, adjust flight time to match same range as before...

Why you ask? to reduce the number of missiles in space at a given time... (it will also make sniping with missiles more viable than it already is)

Interesting idea, but it won't help at all in this case, as the fps drop happens already for the first missile in space. Adding more missiles has nearly no further impact (at least on newer cards).

First missile effects deployed, 10 fps dropped. (current TQ)
Second fixed missile effect deployed, 30 fps dropped....progress? (current SiSi)

Its not the fact i have to disable it, its the fact that its working worse than currently on TQ.

What do ya think, is it gonna go live on TQ with this fps impact? Or is this new missile effect gonna be removed from current SiSi build?
And BTW, how many reported problems went from SiSi to TQ? And then wait for the patch for god knows how long, when it shouldn't be deployed in the first place.

Or how about the acid cloud in Recon 3/3 mission? How long ago was that reported? (hint, its just been a year since it was reported) Wanna know that went? Its still not fixed, its missing completely, the green cloud that did dmg to your ship is not there, you still take dmg, just the thing that dmged you isn't visible.

The on/off check box in options is the least of my problems. I can live without missile smoke, trust me What?

Hi again!

We made some changes to missiles yesterday evening, which reached Singularity this morning. Please check out your performance with missiles on ATI cards - on my test machine it looks like we are back at the level of current TQ. Please reply here with your observations and please send bugreports, if you find any related bugs. Thanks in advance!

"Data Package Unavailable. The server you are connecting to doesn't have a published update package. Client update was unsuccessful" No option to click play button.

Now this may be a known problem and you may have published some workaround until you fix the launcher. But really I'll just wait til the launcher is fixed. Straight

Our apologies! This was a short time problem with the information about the currently active patch. It should be fixed now.

Confirmed.
Much-much better after new patch.
Obvious advance. Today i tried the missile affects with high settings and the frame drop decreased.
From 75FPS to 50-52FPS and the FPS normalized back to 75 FPS after first salvo. Nice work.
Please check the other fps drops too, when camera turning toward the sun.
And a button would be nice too for turning off space dust in anomalies/mission spots.

Is it worse than on TQ or about the same? Which card are you using? ATI?

Also as some people mentioned, when testing FPS make sure you use Interval Immediate.
For normal gameplay this is not recommended, because it tells your GPU to go as fast as it can, and therefor it might get rather hot. But for testing you should use that, otherwise you can really report only two values: "60" or "30 and lower", with nothing in between. Thanks!

I tested with all graphical settings.
With Vsync,Force Vsync,Interval default or Immediate or 60 70 75Hz monitor settings.
No matter, when i tested with other setting the FPS dropped every times.

And no one want to test or playing without vsync (Interval Immediate) because no one want to boil his VGA, but that setting really make VGA cards to hot in fully load.

Yes, I would definitely recommend just enabling Immediate for a short, focused test, and then setting it back to One. Thanks!
