I have 3.4m skill points, and am unfamiliar with new player experience etc... how long will it take me to recoop these points if i started over for a better look?

You will always be 3.4 mil behind of what you could of had, not such a big deal if those were in science or industry and you never would use them but there will be a time if you did re-roll and start again that you'd want leadership and you'd def be training the spaceship and gunnery again, so just be throwing away training time for a charactor you not like the look of........

1. check to see if the free customization we got with Inferno will work for you
2. do petition to see if they will give you a freebie (I tried a petition to change my race and was denied fwiw)
3. start new toon on your account and start training. If you are happy with the new toon, try to sell the old one. You wont' get much but you may get some isk for your trouble
4. deal with it

You dislike your looks that much? ^_^

To each their own. I don't care what my Avatar looks like. It's my name that matters.

no, I like my looks actually. I just don't like being associated with Gallente, rather have Amarr there.

I should use my empty 3rd slot to see what Amarr toon options I could do

What specifically are you trying to do? If you tell us what exactly you're going for probably half the thread would be willing to make a gallente alt and muck with the settings to see if we can get what you're looking for.

Remember that anything involving clothing can be changed after the fact using Aur as well, the only thing that really necessarily varies with race are your tattoo options. Further, you'll never see your full-body avatar unless you enable captain's closet, in which case you're just (*puts on giant Gallente Aviator shades*) marching to the beat of a different drum to begin with. (*YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH*).

Also worth noting that most of the distinct characteristics of Gallente were also present in the old avatar customization system, so not sure why you picked it in the first place if aesthetics are a big deal to you.

dont waste those 3.5m skill points

go to a mirror you can redesign your character (after the latest inferno patch we got the option to redesign our characters once)

also since its been 2 years, you probs have a nerual remap, so u can respec your attributes

then just start training your new skills, you would have to train them on a new account anyway, and at least this way u can hold onto ur original 3.5m SP

I'd think of it like this:
If your rerolling your race and going to be using new ships, then you'd have to train for them anyways, thus the only training time you would be 'wasting' is on the generic support skills.
Plus 2 years from now you'll probably have run out of things you want train, so those 2 extra months don't really matter in the end.

tl;dr
SP really only matters in the short term, but a sexy face is forever...

The Sandbox, you're playing it wrong!

It's been a 2 year hiatus, so your Gallente hasn't been training for 2 years, I wouldn't worry about the 2 months or so it would take to equal that character's skill point total. I would make a new Amarr, try out the new player tutorials and see how you like it. If you decide you can't stomach the skill loss and the time to make it up, it will have cost, all of what, a week's worth of "lost skill points?" Hardly anything to drive yourself crazy over.

This is coming from a fellow noob here, and I don't know if there is a glitch or I'm doing something wrong but I've clicked on the mirror and changed clothes/hair/scars almost every time I log in. The face/skincolor I've noticed remains umalleable, though. I didn't even know you could change that. Hence I look like a euro trash vampire.

IMO, you should use the plex buddy account idea posted above to have two characters. The 51 days gives you a large amount of time to train the second account to any level you like, and you can use the original account to earn money and enjoy aspects of the game unavailable to a brand new character....

Down the road, if you become a serious EvE player, you'll probably want more than one account. Until then, just let the original account expire, and by the time it does you'll have a very playable Amarr toon....

I would keep it. I got back with 2.5m SP after a year. Keeping this for now.
