remove local and the null overpopulation problem will be solved.

Anyone who would move out of 0.0 because they don't have local is a Bad Player™ to begin with, and I doubt they do any real playing in null anyway and are just there because there's better rats/asteroids.

Actually I thought they had neutral alts running L4s or mining in highsec anyway.

Keep local, dscan click-fests for hours on end is not a game play feature that should be allowed in 21st century video games. Cheers Blink

Actually, I do my moneymaking in hisec and join 1000+ fleetfights in nullsec.

Make money in nullsec. Heh. That's a good one.

wait. what? there are other mmos out there that show me the exact number of players and their names and affiliation in the same area as i am? and not anyhow... just AS SOON as i enter the area a chatbox pops up with all the above-mentioned info? hmmmm... i wonder why....

Are there many other MMOs which give you less than 10 seconds to respond (out of, say, 2-3 hours of constant playtime) to avoid losing more than your pride, while doing something which is repetitive and very boring?

Hmm, not a bad idea and it got me thinking.

Introduce 'local' as an I-Hub/Station Service/POS Module that can be incapped (Like POS mods or a Station Service)

Some sort of upgrade that seeks out communications through the system and relays it to a 'local' channel. Only systems that have said upgrade installed will have a 'local' channel. This can be taken a whole lot further if supported.

Thoughts?

I like it. It's a good compromise between the "remove local" and "keep local" crowds without having some odd kind of delay. I'd want it to have some accompanying null buff though.

The people who enjoy 0.0 aggro mechanics without local have WH space. The people who enjoy 0.0 aggro mechanics with local have 0.0

I like local because it helps me find targets more quickly.

I like the idea, I've suggested it before in other threads as I'm sure many have. It's a good intermediate solution between those who like and dislike the idea of local. It pretty much solves free intel and afk cloaking in one shot. Everyone has an idea that reds are around but not exactly where, so people get used to it and are not so quick to dock, negating the need to even have an afk cloaker.

So close...

The problem with any suggestion for changing local is that there is A LOT more then just local to providing intel.
I can pull up a map and see how many are in station and in space.
For a roaming gang or even a single player looking for prey you don't need local to find someone.
As the defenders of there own space all they have is local and there intel channels.

So removing local requires multiple nerfs, not just one to balance the odds.

And we all hate the scan button it gets old really fast.
But CCP already reduced the polls on it to cut back on lag so turning it into a true radar probably has issues.

Then again a true radar would be nice.
One that just tells you direction and range but not what it is.
For that you can use the scanner if need be.
PAH why both even thinking about it, it isn't going to change so this whole thread is just a waste of time.

Lolno. If you want no local, go to w-space.

If you want massive memory leaks, enable your constellation chat. It's free and easy and a great way to crash!

Remove local. If someone is too lazy to d-scan they deserve death
