The Door.. couldn't they just change the d arn pic to something pleasant?

I mean, being shown the door was really the last straw for me...

the thing that made me think

... much as I like this game, I ought to spend 6 months or so trying to play other mmo's.. and I have and have got engrossed in a couple for shorter legnths of time.

Every time I see it, it keeps me from doing more than updating my queues and leaving.

Its a reminder that they don't care if people think its a thumb in an eye.. that they're too stuborn to change

"just to make customers happy?" ? @ !!



its the dumb goverment red tape thing?

Do they need to appoint a blue ribbon comittee to study what screenshot out of all their marketing materiials belongs there?

Drag their feet, refuse to take partaial measures that improve things a bit short term.....sure spinning in stations back is the goal

but why not give us a nice picture while we're watiing?

I just read the title, read the first two responses as per usual. So I'm just going to respond to the question. Yeah, it would be nice to change it to a picture of a station interior .. especially now considering that they've cancelled Incarna and WiS.

I get that sense.. that they still don't put that at the center..

You forgot you're talking about CCP. A short-term solution? HA! That would make sense and wouldn't be very fearless.

Modifying client files is against the EULA. With that in mind, the door will be replaced by the old hangar view.

I am presuming that this is still being implemented despite the big change of directions, seeing as how the Door and loss of our hangar is one of the big issues that the community want changing.

people that complain about something ccp says they will fix very soon is probably why many don't take valid complaints seriously.

More importantly, what would the point of changing it be?

We know they're going to change it to the hangar view, so whats the problem?

Patching once to add the hangar = one chance of bugs, patching once for a new picture and a second time for the hangar view = two chances of bugs.

Leave it alone till they're ready to put the hangar view back i say.

They're allowed to break the rules I guess...


If you are able to read you will understand that by allowing players to add additional separate movie files rather than replacing the old ones they will prevent that people mess up the integrity of the client thus preventing something cool to break the EULA.

It would have taken 10 minutes 5 months ago to change the picture to something off one of their ad campaings instead of showing the players the door.

Well, I don't know about the 10 minutes... it takes a bout 10 seconds to change my walpaper on my computer. I'd think there is a file... the file might need to be included in a patch.


Anything.. a black screen with whiet text that says "eve online" even eve online mispelled is better than a door that suggests players get the heck out ot dodge...or the opposite locked in a prison

Even if it were only 10% getting a strong negative message from a still image , unless the develpers felt strongly positive about the image or other players really loved it and found it inspiring the habit should be quickly making a easily attainable change while looking for a long term solution.
